When I rode to to KC Rally in 08. I saw a couple guys trailering. I just thought their bikes had broke down. At a rest area insults were hurdled in my direction, after offering to help fix a bike on a trailer. So I guess they're not all broke.

Man, you could shit diamonds straight outta' your ass and someone here would complain the pile isn't stacked correctly.
Cheatin you are always the voice of reason!! You guys do what makes you happy and stop listening to what someone else thinks you should do. :spank:

I ride when I am alone, but if my wife wants to go, we trailer. Simple as that, the v-rod is not a comfortable bike to ride 2-up for any real distance. That is, unless you enjoy stopping every 60 miles so she can get off and stretch...lol 2 years ago, we trailered to Sturgis, I actually had several guys on bikes wave as they went by. Maybe they were laughing? lol If I want my wife to go, we have to trailer. I enjoy her company, so trailer it is.

If I go on a weekend trip alone, my bike ends up looking like this:

Nothing wrong with that. You can deuglify it as soon as you get to the hotel that way and then have the sleek beauty it was meant to be to ride around on.

I hate to agree with Lux, but this bike should never be bagged.

For me its about the journey, not the destination. And I see plenty of cool and beautiful things from the interstate. But personally could care less how anybody else does it. It never even enters my mind. I think to many people sit around pointing fingers at the other guy. For every person that wants to group people together and poke fun and ridicule because they are all behaving like sheep, they are actually creating another group that does just the opposite but are equally sheepish in behavior. Very few are really original.

The bride and I went to Sturgis and around a couple of Western states and back to BC this summer. we rode to Sturgis with a group of 7 and a truck and trailer was taken. It was a pleasure to ride without all the baggage tied to the bikes---one of the riders got ill and the trailer came in handy. When we left Sturgis all our purchased "crap" was left in the trailer and we left with a small bag on my sissy bar. Bonnyville, Reno (Hot August Nites), Salt lake City, California coast and home.

I can drive from my home to Northern Califonia in a day--towing a trailer, It takes 2 days to ride the same distance without pounding it out, I5 is not a fun drive some times.

I stick my bike in the back of my truck when I go long distances because I want to be fresh to ride when I get there and I need to bring some stuff with me as well. There will never be any bags on my bike so that's a way for me to haul my shit around with me. When I go down to LA for instance to ride with Lux and the guys, the bike always goes in my truck. Riding around down there all weekend and then the bike goes back in the truck for an easy drive back home.

Real hardcore is not giving a **** what others say and do what suits you best.

I rode 5 hours straight from Houston to Dallas with my girlfriend. She didnt complain. We packed all our stuff into a Backpack and Mono-Sling + Luggage rack. She didnt mind at all.

You have to remember that the average age around here is prolly in the high '40's. Most people around here prolly have trouble walking around the block. :hidesbeh:

Count me out for riding more than about 5 hours in a day. After that much riding I don't enjoy it and its more like a chore. Same as riding when its 110 degree's plus outside or when its under 40. Not my idea of fun.

O.K. Sammy ! I am 71 and the bride 50 we rode to Sturgis in 2 days from Vancouver BC, then Bonnyville, Reno and San Franscisco and home. Age be damned!!!!!! it's all in the head. although in the words of Willy Nelson " I have outlived my pecker"

I agree and good for you!!!! My mom is 84 and had a triple bypass about a year ago and was still more active than most "grown men" two days before her sugery.

Unfortunately you are not the norm, seems like alot of people retire from life at age 40.

It's like anything else - if you have a really good reason, fine. But in principle it is bad, because the bikes are being used as ornaments and not ridden.

Just personally, I'm as happy to spend two hours on a motorway on a bike as in a car, but, whatever makes everyone happy.

wow, as the OP, I appreciate all the comments!

I have now trailered our bikes about 7 or 8 times a couple of hours each way to the rolling hills and twisties of southeastern Ohio this year.

maybe I'm in bad shape, but wringing that bigass Softail of mine for 3 or 4 hours on winding roads wears me completely out.

If I had to ride 2 hours back home on the interstate on my bike, I think I would shoot myself. My wife feels the same way.
