It's amazing isn't it - 'bad ass' bikers are supposed to be free spirit/against the norm/go their own way/no rules but in truth they are all like sheep, same clothes/bikes and cannot cope with anyone who is really a free spirit/against the norm/goes their own way

I don't get much of that from my group but we have all makes covered. A drunk witch one night kept saying "I just don't like it". I finally heard enough and asked her why she didn't tell me that when I asked her before I bought it. She said "you didn't ask me if i liked it then" to which I replied "exactly, and I still don't give a fu@% if you like it". She got all pissed and her old man told her to shut her drunk mouth. It didn't help any that there was a group laughing at her.

What was that :confused:"....get a real Harley" :hmm:

:sinister: Tell 'um it's a Porsche already and why should I conform to be like everyone else.

:twisted: If you feel real brave ask them why are they all dressed alike.

That seems to become more true each day.

all of the actual bikers (1%ers) that I have encountered have been the ones I've had the best moco, VROD, and general motorcycle conversations with. The two asshats I ran into were the "weekend" tough guys

Mattman said it best "When I see guys wearing leather from head to toe I always imagine they just came from some sort of gay mens dungeon somewhere." :rofl2::rofl2:

Interesting thread...I ride my VRSCA with my other rider friends and those who own air-cooled twins like the Harleys and those who have custom choppers never make fun or negative comments about my bike.
What I find interesting though is when they see my modified VRSCA and they ask questions about it since it has a Harley Davidson badge on it. It just takes education really...In the world of bikers where they are accustomed to S&S air cooled twins and H-D air cool twins...seeing a bike that is a V-Twin, fuel injected, water-cooled and designed by Porsche kinda throw them off....What is more interesting is when they discovered how much torque and horsepower the V-ROD get.

Those who have been riders and is well-read on V-Twin technologies...seldom ever make fun of the V-ROD.

I’ve been riding for about 12 years and have always owned Jap bikes until the V-rod. I’ve never had an occasion to bother Harley people and they have always left me alone, until now. I rode my favorite ride up hwy 12 to a lodge for lunch yesterday. Don’t know if there was an organized ride or not but the Harley people (air heads) were out in droves. Was getting ready to leave when 6 guys came up and wanted to know if that was my V-rod. After explaining that it was one person wanted to know if I realized what I had there or if I was just trying to prove something. In response I politely inquired if he realized what he DIDN’T have there, and if so, there are other V-rods available. Left there stopped on top of the pass and sure enough another bad ass Harley rider approached and wanted to know whose V-rod that was. Explained it was mine with a little attitude this time. He wanted know why someone hadn’t explained to me yet that it was time to grow up and get a real Harley.

Thought when I decided on the V-rod it would be my Jap bike friends who would give me the most trouble. Turns out they really like my bike and can’t say enough good things about it. I knew Harley people didn't like this bike but never realized it would be like a damn red flag.
Some of the dumbest people own harleys.

I been getting the opposite, but from citizens, not the Harley riders.

Crap, there was a big poker run over the weekend and I was too busy to go. If I would have known it bugged them so much, I would have made sure to ride in it. Hahaha.

When I bought a Superglide, it was when they were first coming out with electronic ignitions. So they had sort of a cross. It had an electronic ignition, but had a mag and sensor rotating where the points and plugs used to be. The aftermarket was selling kits and those suckers were tearing them off and putting points and plugs in them. No kidding.

From what I've seen, the ones that talk and act like that don't ride much.

I liked the AARP response. WE NEED A COMEBACK THREAD!!!!!

4 years and zero encounters like that.

I always rehearse what I will say...

"I don't care for antiques"

"Of course it's not a real Harley. Its' fast and reliable."

The AARP remark is food for thought..."I don't have a real Harley because my AARP card hasn't come yet."

Now you know what it is like to show up to a Vrod rally riding an R :hidesbeh:
Now that's funny (especially to another R owner)!!!

It's actually pretty simple... The VROD is seen as a threat to these air head riders. I've never had an experience like this yet. I'd laugh at anyone who pulled the BS with me. My VROD is great, its not perfect, (I've had a few incidents with repair bills) but other than that, it's a friggin beast. I rev the bejesus out of it & it responds with flying colors, everytime. My friends who have harleys said this last week. "Dude, we hit it to try & keep up with you back there & you were just pulling away from us."

P.S. I refer to my Bike as a 2 wheeled Porsche:D

I have a cousin, He is about 53 now, He bought His 1st bike a few years ago, a Boring 1200 Sportie but not the cool Nightster type but the awful Spoked wheels and badly painted Bore Box thing they still shove onto dealership floors every year. Every time He talks about ridding he calls it "Riding our Harley's" things like " We get to ride HArley's out here all year long" or "I rode my HArley today to the Ocean" etc... I once had extra tix to an Angels YAnkees game in Anaheim and told Him He should go, He lives about 40 minutes further away from the Stadium than I so I said We have to take our bikes. He said "You mean Our Harley's?" I said " No, My bike, I know its a Harley but I dont call it one, Its a Bike, Thats it" This confused him. He hasn't talked to me since and I dont care.

found it funny that this tread popped up. had a couple of experiences this week.

1) sat night i was riding with a few friends and a guy i never met before that had a heritage. he asked me how i like my vrsca. told him i loved it and that he should test ride one. he responded that he test road a muscle, found it real snappy and fast but when you get to be his age you just need something slower.

2) happened earlier tonight. while i was paying for gas there was a couple and a friend of theirs standing around my bike. they were all staring at it pretty hard. i thought they maybe something happened to my ride for a minute but when i walked outside after paying for gas etc... they came up to me and said that is a really cool bike do you mind if we take some pictures with it. i let them take their pics, they thanked me and walked away with huge grins on their faces. i felt pretty cool for a few minutes.

almost everyone i talk with loves the vrod. the only negative (if you can call it that) experience i have ever had was a few weeks ago when i went to rawhide hd (old central south in olathe, ks) for a part and a sales guy started talking up bikes & riding and as soon as i mentioned i had a vrod he just said oh and then he started talking to another customer. i just chalked it up as he doesn't have a clue about the bikes he sells or is just a general all around d-bag. either way it didn't bother me. i know and love what my bike is and every time i ride it i love it a little bit more.

Ride a V-Rod - the bike douchebags hate.

That would sell me on one.

as i'm a limey on the other side of the pond, what is an aarp card?. i'm awaiting my new muscle but still have a 103" stage 2 fatboy so i have a foot in both camps.

what is an aarp card?
