Just picked up the latest issue of Cycle World, and they had a full test of the new 2009 VMAX. This is the first one I've seen since the bike was debuted. Here's what they have:

Rear wheel horsepower: 174.3 @9000 RPM
Rear wheel torque: 113.0 @6600 RPM

1/4 mile time: 10.26 @ 135.8 mph

0-30 mph: 1.3
0-60 mph: 2.7
0-90 mph: 5.0
0-100mph: 5.9

Top gear roll ons:
40-60: 2.8
60-80: 3.0

Measured top speed: 138

Average fuel economy: 27 mpg
High/low fuel economy: 31/23mpg

Avarage range including reserve: 107 miles

Braking distance:
From 30 mph: 31'
From 60 mph: 128'

Wet weight: 701 lb

I'm waiting for my dad to hand this down to me. He gets Cycle World and then gives it to me.

On starvmax.com they report that 10.13 is the time had by Dale Walker (an avid V-Maxxer).

I'd like to see some times/numbers when they put exhaust and open up the intake with a better air filter. That will be interesting.

107 miles a tank? Ugh.

Everything else looks like tons of fun.

Maybe its me, but those numbers compare well with a turbo charged V Rod, don't they?

701 lbs wet
174 hp
113 torque
Low 10's in the 1/4

What's the cost of the bike?

Still, the vrod is so much better looking!!!

:them:...but this is all on engine and stock at that. I thought my vrod weighed a lot. They missed the mark on weight IMHO. Also, vrod wins hands down on looks.

Cost... anywhere from $16,900 USD on up. TT&L extra

Think MSRP is 17.9K

Sure... stock for stock, they win hands down in a race. Bolt on a turbo or do a BB or s/c and its just about even.

Nice bike, not my cup of tea though.

No question what so ever in the looks department!

107 miles to the tank and reserve. Hmmm... Rick make a new tank for them, yet?

next year that vmax will be last years model and will age accordingly.our v rods havent suffered that enigma.they will always look good.the vmax and suchi have a lot in common.kinda hard to feel satisfied by and goes off quick.
