Just picked up the latest issue of Cycle World, and they had a full test of the new 2009 VMAX. This is the first one I've seen since the bike was debuted. Here's what they have:

Rear wheel horsepower: 174.3 @9000 RPM
Rear wheel torque: 113.0 @6600 RPM

1/4 mile time: 10.26 @ 135.8 mph

0-30 mph: 1.3
0-60 mph: 2.7
0-90 mph: 5.0
0-100mph: 5.9

Top gear roll ons:
40-60: 2.8
60-80: 3.0

Measured top speed: 138

Average fuel economy: 27 mpg
High/low fuel economy: 31/23mpg

Avarage range including reserve: 107 miles

Braking distance:
From 30 mph: 31'
From 60 mph: 128'

Wet weight: 701 lb

I'm waiting for my dad to hand this down to me. He gets Cycle World and then gives it to me.

On starvmax.com they report that 10.13 is the time had by Dale Walker (an avid V-Maxxer).

I'd like to see some times/numbers when they put exhaust and open up the intake with a better air filter. That will be interesting.

Maybe its me, but those numbers compare well with a turbo charged V Rod, don't they?

701 lbs wet
174 hp
113 torque
Low 10's in the 1/4

What's the cost of the bike?

Still, the vrod is so much better looking!!!

:them:...but this is all on engine and stock at that. I thought my vrod weighed a lot. They missed the mark on weight IMHO. Also, vrod wins hands down on looks.

Sure... stock for stock, they win hands down in a race. Bolt on a turbo or do a BB or s/c and its just about even.

Nice bike, not my cup of tea though.

No question what so ever in the looks department!

107 miles to the tank and reserve. Hmmm... Rick make a new tank for them, yet?

Those are some nice numbers. But if you're going to get a 4 cylinder bike, why not a sport bike? I donno. Those numbers compare to a 1250 w/ turbo. The 107 miles to a tank isn't that bad, considering with the pre 5 gallon tanks, we were getting about 100 before we felt uncomfortable. I will agree tho, it's not the best lookin bike on the road. not by a long shot.

AH!! But the real question is....WHICH ONE WILL PICK UP MORE BABES?????

I always wondered what a profession rider (like Dale) would do on my bike in the 1/4 mile. I just read the CW article on the VMax yesterday. Good article.

I ran about a 11.3 "corrected" of altitude bone stock DX... :D

(11.98 sec @ DA 8300ft)

For running the strip, my 08 DX ($14,000 what a deal) + nos gave me a much quicker bike than that on the 1/4 miles and still ended up cheaper.

I'm happy.

Oh, and it looks good too.

138, that's it :banghead:, here's a shot from my gps unit when I went to reset the trip meter, I was suprised to see the speed that it recorded and I wasn't even pushing my bone stock muscle (I had more in it :D)

That bike of yours should hit the limiter in 5th gear, I think it's capable of 150 (not suggesting you try it for a gps pic, just saying)

I did a buck fifty five on my '05 ZX-10R, and that felt really fast (that bike was less than 400 lbs and making ~181 hp :D). When I recored that gps number, I had a clear straight path, so I down shifted to 4th, ran it up close the the red-line just to see how it feels, and then I looked at the speedo, the needle was moving fast above a buck twenty, then I shifted into 5th.

Don't do it, but the bike will go to the limiter in 5th as well, way too fast for a foot forward no fairing bike, but it will do it. I swapped the front pulley for a 26 tooth in mine and about 138 is all the bike's capable of with that set up.

no doubt.....but I never got paid to campaign one of those.....hahaha
The Project V was plenty bad azz, though it was far from "streetable".....we irked several Busa boys with it....even turbo bikes......Man was that fun....hahaha
The look on their face when they came back to the pits......having to tell their buddies they just got beat by a friggin Harley! hahaha

Now THAT had to be priceless! I'd pay money to see that go down.
