After reading the article. It seems the 1st problem stemmed from the first builder that shoulda spun the engine to look and observe if there was any clearance issues.
It really makes you wonder how you could put together a motor without checking SKIRT clearance? It just sounds like such an OBVIOUS snafu. It makes you wonder if this article is really on the up and up. It wouldn't be the first time someone from a mag had an axe to grind and did it in their article. :2cents:

Thats a possibility Rj. Yet Cycle World has a excellent reputation. Hard to believe they would slam somebody in the biz like that, with out just cause.

I hope I'm not jinxing myself but I have had zero issue with my full circle 1/2" billet crank. It's been on the strip several times, numerous dyno shootouts and banzai runs on the street to redline in every gear including 5th.

:them: The reason Falicon does not accept responsibility is because
They did not assemble the motor. The company supply's parts only.
Unless you have a product failure, It's up to you to assemble CORRECTLY.
There are clearances on Rod bearings when stroking the crank that,
Falicon is not concerned with as they do not assemble them.
To blame the supplier for assembly problems is not fair IMHO.
Rod bearings fail for one of TWO reasons ONLY.
Lack of oil,and lack of clearance.
There are bearing SIDE clearance's when stroking the motor,
That if you are not familiar with, will spin them.
Most people that spin rod bearings blame the crank.
Cranks do not spin rod bearings.:D

One of the staffers at Cycle World recently did a side bar article describing his trials and tribulations with a Falicon stroker crank kit in a 450cc dirt bike.
First the piston wouldn't clear the crank at BDC and it went down hill from there.
In the end after $2500 spent he pulled it out and returned it to stock.

Read the first post in this thread.

FWIW, I have a crank at Falicon right now. They'll be stroking it 1/4 inch for me and my build.

It'll be cryo treated. I don't know if that makes that much of a difference. I sure hope the bike crank doesn't suffer the same "shrinkage" as when you go swimming in a cold lake....

:rofl2: :rofl2: A real good polishing before should reduce the cold
lake shrinkage syndrome,or does it enhance it,dam not sure..:D

you better explain to the woman about that one, that was a great seinfeld episode

We have had cranks done by several different companies in the last 5 years. Some where OK, some where bad from the start. Just look online and there are many crank regrind companies. No matter what anyone ever tells me I will never be convinced that Glenn at falicon is selling sub-standard stuff. I have had many lower in failures but I have not been able to prove that any where the fault of the crank supplied by Falicon alone. Yes I am sure everyone will jump on me about this motor and that motor, but when people are pointing fingers and I start asking questions it seems they can't answer because they didn't know about checking for this or that. After most failures you can look back and MOST of the time find the cause.I find new causes for problems all the time and when I do I learn to check for it the next time.

If you don't push the envelope it will remain the same and no new gains will ever be made.
