my waste of money was ,taking my bike to the stealer to get the wires done internally ,didnt mind the stock bars so i said keep them if theres no prob with that,so they did it charged me a fortune and there are these damn holes in the bars where the original wiring clips were,i reckon they could have told bout them ,but NO the smart ass tech looks at me and laughs and says i thought you would be happy enough with that,,,,grrrrrrrrrrrrrr
I ran my turn signal wires through the clip holes.

Elrod on the V-Rod

just regrets on money wasted for items purchased and switched later on. In my defense the newer products weren't available at the time..then again, I'm sure to have even more of these regrets later on.

Bought a 240 setup..switched to 280
Bought lazers micro led - switched to fork mount turn signals
bought smooth ride shocks - switched to arnott.

etc..etc

Windsheild. Bought a Windvest here from one member, went for a five mile ride took it off and sold ot here to another member. I just hate a windsheild on a V-Rod. I love it on my Road King though.

The only regret I have is starting the mod process. The best advice we could all give you is DON"T START. It is so damn addicting and will cost you a ton of money.

All kinding aside, my bike is one of my greatest joys in life. Everytime I look at it or other people admire it, I feel great inside knowing I did it myself (along with all of you coaching along the way.)

I didn't like the drag bars I put on. They were too wide and had a weird angle that wound up hurting my wrists. That's when I went to the clip-ons (LOVE EM!)

When I bought the bike also bought bags, windshied, sundowner. They lasted 3 months and then sold the bags and shield to a guy with a streetrod looking at my bike at a local dealer. Sold the sundowner to a fellow member who is making a V-glide. Also my first 4 exhausts should have just went with the CFR in the first place. It is starting all over with my new Roadglide, but now I am researching ALOT more before I buy! I think the best advice I can offer is do not add anything to your bike when you buy it! Ride it first then start looking around, especially on forums, then decided. My dumb ass just started spending money and not even a year later I have about $14,000 in it but only $10,000 is still on the bike!

switched mirrors 3 times. Also I wish that I wouldnt have bought the chrome shocks I have. Want the air ride from Arnott and it would have put me $200 closer.

didn't have time to read the whole thread, but priceless replies so far!

I bought the sport windshield and it did make a difference to how the wind hit me, it just hit me higher up. Like in the face. It was not worthwhile given the uglyness of a windshield. It is now gone.

Oh, save your money buying an HD passenger pillion and baseplate and backrest to make sure your girlfriend is more comfy. She will leave you and it looks dorky. CFR seat, lose the rear pegs and belt guards and you will rock. By yourself.

I bought short progressive 440's and cfr seat and find the ride a little firm. Tread carefully.

kerry knows....

SuperTrapp 2 into 1.

Love the look
Love the sound
Good quality and sound adjustability
Much lighter weight than stock

However the lack of ground clearance on right turns becomes a real pain, and I do not consider myself an aggressive rider.

Would not be right to single out the SuperTrapp here as I suspect others are similar in regard to clearance.

mods

I'm taking it slow, diggin' stock. I took off the passenger pegs. Stealer dialed SuperTuner. Frame bag holds my clicker & occasional shades, gave me a nifty place for my Jump Wings. Handmade copper bell. Won't be needin' any chrome. Thinking about a black base plate & maybe making a Copper sissy bar.

Heated HD handgrips was such a waste of good money, plus the two hours labor charge to put them on. Still pisses me off! Have spent too much and tried too long to get more space and more comfort for the rear passenger pegs. Shoulda just stayed with the HD floorboards in the first place. I put in the 5 gallon tank so they didn't have clearance on the right side. Haven't found anything suitable yet and have tried every engineering configuration known to Kuryaykn et al!

I think the only thing I regreted was my first exhaust (samson street sweepers) they were HORRIBLY loud! I like loud but them things are annoying!

I guess I didn't really like the tank bra either. I've read a few people say the frame bag is a waste, I for one like it! Fits my extra pair of glasses, tire gauge, insurance documents, etc. it's perfect!
