I was at a fund raiser for the county humane society when the H.O.G. president came over to chat. We spoke about the fact that the local Harley dealer is raffling off a 2006 V-ROD to benefit the society. As we were speaking another H.O.G. guy comes over and we began talking about when the tickets would be sold. The pres told the other guy that he ought to see my V-Rod because it is "really beautiful". The other guy responded, "If you want my opinion they don't look like Harley Davidsons" and then changed the subject.

Hey, he has a right to his opinion and you know what, opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one.......

I would tell him he was right. A Honda Shadow, Yamaha, Polaris, Kawasaki, and Suzuki all look like a "Harley". The V-Rod has it's own unique look. So just thank him for the compliment and wish him a safe ride home......if he can find his bike in the parking lot full of push rod clones.

:stilpoke: And yet........ that was unnecessarily rude and obnoxious.

Well, let's hope the *** gave some money for the animals while he was taking up space and using up oxygen.

Sorry you had to have one of those "I could have done without this" moments.

Man... I have to agree with that statement, I may not have appreciated how it was presented; But, do you think the vsrc class looks like any of the others? There is a visual link referring to it's heritage, but I've never mistook a V-Rod for a Fat Boy, or a Road King, Springer, or any kind of Glide...

Call me an a-Hole... But I would have said "I think you're right and Thank You... HD was light years ahead with that design huh... When do you think the water cooled Baggers will be released?"

I had a guy say my V-Rod was made by Porsche. :slap: I just smiled and said "yea and it's a bad ass Porsche! Wanna race?" :vrod: RULES! Best damn motorcycle ever made and I'm glad it doesn't look like a "Harley"! :stilpoke:

I don't like being like the "airheads. I like pulling into a gas station or restaurant and having people stop to see what I'm riding. They come over and ask " is that the new harley? Wow that is one nice bike." Shakes the foundation of what a harley used to be and what it is becoming....
Ride Safe

I don't know why everyone gets upset when someone doesn't fall in love with our bikes? I guess it's human nature that strives for constant positive reenforcement.

Of course I imagine he would get really ticked off If I looked at his bike and commented that braided tassels, rhinestones and studs are such "sweet" adornments...... I guess they give you something to look at other than the rear end of a V-Rod when you ride with us..... :diablo:

(apologies to those who like those things. They aren't my style but that should have NO BEARING on what you think looks good on YOUR bike and that's my point, WHO CARES what other people think as long as YOU are happy?)

Ignore the naysayers

Kind of a tasteless thing to say to a V-Rod owner. I didn't like V-Rods either until I rode one. Plus, they have improved a lot from the '02 I rented. Don't be too offended, V-Rods aren't for everybody. I test rode a Triumph Rocket III, 2300cc head snapper, and liked it well enough to buy one except for one glareing flaw - I thought it was butt ugly. My VRSCSE may not be the fastest bike on the road, but I think it's one of the prudyest...

THANK GOD FOR THAT ! :D I'm glad my bike doesn't look like every other bike on the road !

Harley world needs to lighten up!

All I can say is I have been with a motor cycle for most of my life and feel very strong when I say there are trully no real bad motorcycles there are just beter one's. I have been waiting for 2 1/2 months to get some decent weather and it's time, tommorow I pick up the new Rod and can't wait to tare up the streets. My previous bike a Harley and was also my first and I wish I could have kept it(sunk a pile of doagh into her) funny it to was a red headed step chiled (Sportster) what's with the Harley crowd it's bad enuogh they won't recognize all riders now they evan turn there nose up at their own.

Angelo, lover of all that is motorcycle.

The fact that "Traditionalists" don't like VRODS is a plus for me. They are the knobshines that think that customization and individuality is great, as long as it's just like everyone else.
This guy I work with is one. He was nothing but negativity when I traded in my FXDWG, even though it broke down constantly, and was at the dealer more than with me this summer. I offered to let him take it for a ride, but he didn't even want to go near it. Also, I think living in Milwaukee my whole life, I am sick of certain types of people. You know, no bike is worth a crap except Harleys, unless it's a Sporty-that's a girl's bike, or a Dyna-could't you afford a Softail, and even a Softail is just a stepping stone to a bagger. Just seems that they are never happy, and I don't really care if they like my bike or not. Actuallly, I kind of prefer that they don't!

:stupid: :plause: some people will never get it, they are just sold on the name and not the machine.

Nerxt time someone says something like that ask them "Hey tough guy wanna race for titles?" Old school folks are exactly what they are, old school with little education.

You see you had the common decency to make this statement. Somewhere along the line you learned something about social grace.
I truly believe to each his own. I also could truly not care less that he does not like MY motorcyle. I bought it and ride it for me, not him.
