Is that a factory fender cut down or non harley cut up?
It's a 13 inch fender blank that was cut down. I also notched the rear subframe and bent it downward about 3 inches. Then welded a truss to reinforce where I lowered the subframe. After cutting and positioning the fender, I welded it to the subframe. I really think I made the fender too short though. Going to try again in a few weeks.

Thanks for all the comments. I really gotta give props to H20V, CptAmerica and others for their inspiration. This forum rocks!

Do you have a link for the exact fender blank? Thanks.

Looks good. now to just powdercoat the air rides so its all the same color. Honestly how does Arnott get away with that??
What's the matter... You don't like my PURPLE shocks! LOL

I just pick them up on Ebay. I need the 13 inch because of the 300 wheel / tire. If your bike is stock or up to 260, you should be able to get away with a 10-11 inch easily. Just search "chopper fender blank" and buy the cheapest one (make sure it's metal, ebay sells fiberglass ones too). You'll end up having to cut and fit it anyways. Good luck.

Has anyone mounted one on a 2012? If so, what brackets did you use?

Im lookin at purchasing a 2012 in the next week and that is one of the first mods....

thanks

Hands down one of my favorite V Rods! :notworth:

If I'm not mistaken, the brackets that come with the Dron Fairing will work fine. Your attachment points at the forks will be different. You can go high-end and pickup some Memphis Shades fairing attachments in 49-55mm adjustable or go cheap with a couple of sets of electrical conduit clamps in 1.5 to 1.75 inch (you may need to measure the circumfrance of the forks between your trees). Your headlight drop can be purchased through Headwinds for the 2012 model (or you can fab your own mount) and you can find any 7inch headlight from a fatboy, roadking, etc. Hope this helps a bit.

Thank you for the quick response....:)

I think you'll be happy with the mod. Post some pics when your done.

I was thinking about maybe adding the Road King style fog /passing lights to my front. Looking for the bracket to Fab it up.

I did the BoB Drone on my first VROD and I think it is the best looking fairing for the lines of the bike, hands down.
I would like to do it again, but I put on GR fork covers.
I just cant see clamping on to them.
The fairing definetly makes the bike look sleeker.
Let's be honest, the guage pod design sucks. Looks like a big snorkel or ET's head or something.

ET's head....LOL.
I've been trying to figure out what it reminds me of ever since I got the DX and you hit it. One of my must have mods was the cluster relocation kit from ms-bike because of the ET head.

Pretty! Nice job. Flows well. Fender is fine, as is the seat. ride it! I would rotate the fairing forward to come closer to the headlight, and give a bit of wind protection. Also allows a bag under there for storage. Joe
