I'm talking top speed, not 1/4 mile, on a stock V-Rod. State if it's a CVO.

120 for me

No names, no blame,

but there was a stock V-Rod with windshield, bags full of water bottles for the boys, sighted doing 130+ at intervals around lake okeechobee this recent weekend. of course, on radar it appeared stationary beside a Hayabusa that was repeatedly pasting it. But that is another story.

Wind wobble becomes an issue for that rider, unless it is a still air day. Its been at that speed more than once, up to 135, but always dusted by the bigger Busa as it skates to 170+++

Road conditions may really change the experience of the actual land speed.... like if you hit a cricket, small bird, or whatever

Buried the speedo at 140 -- with the 30T of course.
Laid down on the airbox cover, nice cool air and freshly paved road.

Been there, done that. Last Monday, to be more specific. I don't think I saw over 120 back where I was, but we were cruising at that speed! I also saw a little wind wobble at speeds approaching 120, so I'd back off.

It has a 5th gear? At one point on the ride Monday, it seemed a little busy (we were cruising at 95), and I checked and damn, I had been in 4th for 5 miles since downshifting to pass that last truck!

This is true ...I was there .....

Unfortunately, I'm still in break-in mode at 675 miles with the break-in oil...as soon as I change it, I'll bring it up and post my results...Here is Louisiana, we're pretty close to sea level, but it's hot and humid as hell...I probably won't post some of the better numbers...

I'd just like to reply for the record that I always ride at or under the posted speed limits, always sensitively taking into account road surface and traffic density, traffic regulations, weather, visibility, tyre tread depth, brake pad condition, and potential presence of any rare or endangered species who might have their breeding patterns disturbed as I waft gently past with my eco-friendly SE's burbling happily in my wake.

I never speed.

Goodness no.

I'm shocked, shocked at the suggestion.

Too many people read this forum.

I've had mine sustained at 125mph for about 30 seconds in a slight cross-wind.

I've noticed the newer V-Rods have speedos that only go to 140mph. Mine goes to 150mph. Is there a difference in top-end? Does that have anything to do with the 28 vs. 30 tooth front sprocket/pulley?

This guy I know with a V-rod, he was never quite comfortable really opening it out with the solid wheels, although he once nearly cracked 150 (but not quite).

He changed to Reactors recently and one of the pleasant side effects he noticed was a feeling of more high-speed stability (mind over matter maybe - who knows?).

The same weekend he happily took his bike up to close to 210 - although apparently at that speed he was too flat on the airbox to note the speed exactly.

Or perhaps he was just grinning too widely... it was quite some years since he'd been that fast on a bike.
