If it is already doing 135+ in the quarter mile, and top speed is 138, how much better can it do in the quarter?
Top speed is electronically limited to 138, but there's supposed to be a function that allows it to go up to 150 under hard acceleration. I suspect that with with intake/exhaust mods, a power commender and a good rider, it could break into the 9's.

Those are some nice numbers. But if you're going to get a 4 cylinder bike, why not a sport bike? I donno. Those numbers compare to a 1250 w/ turbo. The 107 miles to a tank isn't that bad, considering with the pre 5 gallon tanks, we were getting about 100 before we felt uncomfortable. I will agree tho, it's not the best lookin bike on the road. not by a long shot.

:them:...but this is all on engine and stock at that. I thought my vrod weighed a lot. They missed the mark on weight IMHO. Also, vrod wins hands down on looks.
The performance numbers are misleading.....
First of all, Dale Walker (owner of Dale Walker's Holeshot Performance) is a professional dragracer...has been for decades....and his company's main focus is VMAX performance parts.....so he's probably been on his share of VMAX's on the strip.....
And the numbers that they are quoting, as is the case with EVERY performance motorcycle rag, are the BEST times after SEVERAL runs down the track in perfect conditions with a professional rider....
Some mags even "correct" the numbers for altitude, humidity, etc, prior to publishing them.....

NEVER believe what the rags tell you as far as performance.....unless they show you a photo of a timeslip, and even THEN one can't assume that just every joe schmo is gonna show up at the track and run those numbers or anything even close.....
Just FYI.....Seen this go on for YEARS......

But I have ALWAYS been a VMAX fan.....just love the look and the sound and the brute force approach to boulevard cruising.....

I agree. The magazine's I read did say "corrected". It's hands down obviously a faster bike than a V-rod, most 600 sport bikes are too, but from the three articles I read about the Max yesterday it is a real handfull to run in the 1/4, just like most 600s. Don't anyone assume that a good rider on a v-rod couldn't beat a marginal rider on the max in a drag race especially the 1/8th mile. BUT...... I read that Andrew Hines got an 11.3 out of a Muscle, bone stock. Andrew himself said he got an 11.5 out of an X, bone stock, so the Vmax is obviously capable of destroying a v-rod at the strip, as anyone would expect out of 170+ RWHP.

Even though it looks like ass.

Yeah, the VMAX will smoke a VROD.....hands down......unfortunately.....

I always wondered what a profession rider (like Dale) would do on my bike in the 1/4 mile. I just read the CW article on the VMax yesterday. Good article.

I ran about a 11.3 "corrected" of altitude bone stock DX... :D

(11.98 sec @ DA 8300ft)

For running the strip, my 08 DX ($14,000 what a deal) + nos gave me a much quicker bike than that on the 1/4 miles and still ended up cheaper.

I'm happy.

Oh, and it looks good too.

All that HP, torque and they limit the top speed to 138? Whats up with that? And at $17K?

Maybe its the "wind wobble" above 138......

138, that's it :banghead:, here's a shot from my gps unit when I went to reset the trip meter, I was suprised to see the speed that it recorded and I wasn't even pushing my bone stock muscle (I had more in it :D)

That bike of yours should hit the limiter in 5th gear, I think it's capable of 150 (not suggesting you try it for a gps pic, just saying)

I did a buck fifty five on my '05 ZX-10R, and that felt really fast (that bike was less than 400 lbs and making ~181 hp :D). When I recored that gps number, I had a clear straight path, so I down shifted to 4th, ran it up close the the red-line just to see how it feels, and then I looked at the speedo, the needle was moving fast above a buck twenty, then I shifted into 5th.

Don't do it, but the bike will go to the limiter in 5th as well, way too fast for a foot forward no fairing bike, but it will do it. I swapped the front pulley for a 26 tooth in mine and about 138 is all the bike's capable of with that set up.

You're probably right, if that's what you bought a bike for.....
I'm all about HP and skin of your teeth acceleration.....

Then in that case, the 2008 Suzuki Hayabusa is the logical machine for ya! 165-170 RWHP from the factory, bad a$$ for sure. mid nines bone stock with a pro rider aboard. And I think you qualify as a pro rider.

no doubt.....but I never got paid to campaign one of those.....hahaha
The Project V was plenty bad azz, though it was far from "streetable".....we irked several Busa boys with it....even turbo bikes......Man was that fun....hahaha
The look on their face when they came back to the pits......having to tell their buddies they just got beat by a friggin Harley! hahaha

Now THAT had to be priceless! I'd pay money to see that go down.

Speaking of VMaxes again, people are starting to take delivery of these.
