I like the look of these pipes, most of them are nice and short... I have a black CFR right now...how are the toxic pipes? Would it make that much of a difference changing pipes? I know the CFR is a slip on and toxic are not, but would there be a difference in performance that is noticeable?

Not sure which ones you mean since they make many, but they all seem to be quite short. From what I have heard from others the Toxic are very loud and you loose some HP. This is only what I have read since I also have the CFR and havent actually tried the Toxics...

#3 ·
I don't know 1st hand, but what I have read would be a loss of power with the Toxics, IMO

Thanks for the input.... Their sight says Increase in HP, as I am sure they wouldnt say Decrease.....
I like my CFR, but those pipes look sweet... but I dont want to lose HP.......thanks again....

which model?.....they have the V-lux,big rig,turbine.......

I love the 2-1 turbine....this might make a few ponies since its 2-1..the others are 2-2.

here is a member who just installed the turbine 2-1..i like this!

Has anyone thought about throwing a set of Thunder Monster baffles in these pipes? I'm no expert, from what they state on the site, the baffles could help with the hp loss.

#9 ·
Those are the ones I like...... I just dont want to lose any horse....

#11 ·
you will lose from your CFR for sure....CFR is a good HP making pipe.

yeah you can always increase backpressure with baffles/cones ect...however the 2-1 will always do better cause each cylinder helps the other when the pipes come into one....so the 2-2 can never have that efficiency.

many members are installing 2-2 this year(exotics and toxics) and all say they cannot feel the loss in "seat of the pants"

I think you gotta go with the pipes you like for Looks, sound first.....

one thing you should realize is any of these designs are really tough on the right leg heat....so heatshields are a must and maybe wrap too!...but still really hot on leg...

some like the jug huggers or RH 2-2 staggards most for LEAST amount of leg burning.

It is a free country, but that's just crazy talk to me :D

First power, then clearance, then weight.

Once those are sorted, OK, let's talk looks and sound...

Does anyone have two sets of pipes, one for everyday, one for bike events? I'd love something daft to use for the Rally season in July / early August, but no way am I giving up my nice powerful D&D the rest of the year.

Don't worry too much about HP loss ...

I just switched to 2-2 last week and my first ride with them felt exactly the same as my last ride with my 2-1. Did I lose a few HP? Maybe, I'll find out for sure next week when I throw her on the dyno

The looks and sound and great and my dragging issues are (mostly) gone

Everyone here chases for that +1 +1 +1 extra HP and for most people +/-10hp will never make a bit of difference in the way they ride. Get what you like and stop chasing some imaginary useless number.

If HP was so important, you'd be riding a VMax or BMW K1300R ;)

I had baffles put in mine too ... Exotic said they were more for backpressure than sound baffling, but I think it does help with the sound a little too ... I'm glad I got them.

I like my CFR... believe me...... I have had 2....... the chrome, then after my high speed accident, I bought another one.... black this time.... I like the sound and look... I am not super worried about horse... I just dont want to lose any.... I like the sound of the toxic big rig.... I like the sound of my CFR...... but, just was sort of looking for something different... And if I got a toxic, I would have to buy a pcIII or something..... I have the CFR fueler w/ my CFR pipe and just tuned it pretty good I think....

Well, it's one of those things that only you know ...

I always wanted a 2-2 pipe when I got my V (I'm one of those guys that think a VTwin is imcomplete without a 2-2 ... but I am in the minority here), but after reading about how shitty they were on this forum, I went with a pipe that was suppose to be better. I got stuck with a disaster of a pipe that I was happy to get rid of (F U V&H Indy or Comp or whatever they will call it when the current generation screws up) ...

My 2-2 exhaust is not going to be for everyone and it is not going to be the fastest, but you know what, I am the only one allowed to ride my bike (and sometimes Dan when he is out "testing" ... heh) so I am the only one I care about (though I did get pirate themed Pondo covers because my two year old daughter thinks pirates are funny ... I so I guess I do care about her too ... heh).

I have had many people coompliment my bike over the year and a few that just flat out hate it ... and you know what, I could give a shit what they think. I know that when I'm riding it, I'm experiencing some of my happiest moments ...

My point is that I made a mistake the first time I bought my exhaust because I went with what everyone said was what I should have went with ... this time I went with what I wanted and I love it

Mike I agree with you....

but one thing all should really be careful with is the heat on leg....if you are tall it will be less of issue....

I just hate to see someone buy something cause they like the look/sound and then find out it burns there leg ....several have talked about these designs and heat on right leg so be aware.

I just put the big rig's on my bike, i thought the heat would be alot worse than it was. I rode it last night for about 50 miles. It was a little warm but not uncomfortable or anything of that sort.

It seems like theres a little bit of a power loss but im searching for the right map and i think it will correct it.

I have a 2008 vrscdxa big rig's non baffled, screamin eagle air filter with top on and a pcIII.

I searched high and low in the power commander section for a compareable map and couldnt find one.

Didnt toxic give you a map with these?....what about dynojet....dont they have some similar 2-2 maps?

these my require a good dyno tune....SINIC will be getting his done so you might talk to him..

I know their is a little loss in power, as they go from a 2-3 into a stright 2 style pipe.

Did I notice? Hell no, not even close in a big deal, if I had 125HP, I prob. got 115 now. Just a guess.

But man did it make a big difference in looks, head turns, comments, what I wanted (a harley V-rod that sounds like a harley)

Worth it big time IMHO.

EDIT: My set of pipes came with what I bought, pipes (w/ custom cut I designed myself in photoshop at no extra cost.) baffels, mounting hardware, heat shields, power comander, and a free CD with map maps for all of their pipes, IE I have all the maps for each style of Toxic pipes, with 2-3 ver. for each pipe. So I could get as close as possible before Dyno. Very cool IMHO.

I also think/feel that the pipe cool off faster than the stock V-rod pipes. And aren't as hot when ridding around town, even less on highway. The stock pipes would take more than 2 hours to cool off after riding, mine (V-lux) cool off in about 30-40 min. at which point I can full hand grab them. That has to be a plus.

I haven't heard the CFR first hand, but mine were supper load before I put the baffels in, now that the baffels are in their about or a little louder than the Vance and hines stright shots on a road king, as my neighbor has thoses.

Click on my second pic, it's a video with out baffels.

i have the big rigs and love 'em. however Dan is right i am 5'10" and my right pant legs have burned on the pipes before i had them ceramic coated by jet-hot. now that they are coated i have no issues w/ the heat. if you need a map for your piii i think i still have one for the big rigs unbaffled

I have the V-Lux pipes on my bike and I could give a rats ass what HP I am at, they are what I wanted and they sound awesome and look evil on my bike..and what matters is what each to there own likes..not the masses... I did dyno it and posted the results for you all to see in one of my previous posts...as a still part time supersport (599cc) class racer(R6)on real tracks, not civilian back country roadways, or city streets... racing technology and carbon fiber, ceramic brakes, braided brake lines, and on and on are so worth it on the track for the end result of a win for your semi pro or pro record...5hp or so loss going from 2-1 to 2-2 on the civilian streets where there is a legal POSTED speed limit is so small u wont even notice..nor should we if we all are responsible bikers and not make asses out of ourselves and give the Motorcycling community a bad name by using the civilian streets as a drag strip or Road Atlanta style track...IMHO only...

i also have the v-lux on my bike. the only thing i did was send them to jet hot to be coated inside and out to help with the heat. from toxic the coating isnt that great. other then that i love the sound and they turn heads everyday. befor the v-rod i had a gsxr 1000 so i didnt buy the dx for speed i bought it for looks. i like that the dx has a set of balls unlike the airheads but like everyone said its up to the person and how they ride. i drive it like i stole it everyday and love my pipes :)
