So I finally convinced my wife to take a ride with me on my VRSCR. She doesn't like bikes at all, so this in itself was an accomplishment. Anyway, on the ride, and unbeknownst to her, my rear brakes failed completely and was spraying fluid everytime I hit the pedal. Needless to say, I didn't take any longer getting home than I needed, and then told her the news.

Anyway, I have narrowed the leak down to my melted rear brake switch. I am now on the hunt for a replacement. I unfortunately, after reading multiple threads, ordered the wrong one. So I ask you experts, what is the correct part number? I believe it is 72025-06, but I do not know for sure. I also see 72026-08 looks very similar (maybe an updated version).

So if any of you can confirm the correct switch, and if there is an aftermarket replacement part I can pick up at an automotive store, that would be great too, although I am not expecting much.

Not sure if it makes any difference, but my bike is a 2006 VRSCR.

I called around to all the dealers near me. The first one asked me for a part number, not sure why he didn't look it up. So I gave him the 72025-06 number. He said it is obsolete and the new part number is 72025-06B. Called a second dealer with the 72025-06B number and he said he doesn't have any in stock, but has 4 on order (must be common). So either way, I'm still not sure I am searching for the right part or not. And if I am, I will probably order it online as the second guy told me it will be 7 to 10 days if he orders it, if it isn't backordered.

B is a superseded number. Same switch, likely different supplier. That happens a lot with the A,B,C updated numbers.

Good idea though to solve a recurring problem. While I have no issue with a hydraulic switch properly designed and produced the HD system isn't. Kawasaki uses mechanical switches on their rear disc brake models, same switch across the brand so it's pretty economical, inexpensive and easy to fix and trouble shoot.
HD persisted through the entire run to hide the thing in a cranny right next to the exhaust mid section collector which is difficult to service and instead of using industry standard units that you could get at any auto parts store used different parts on different years and models.

Yes, I can see the reasoning but the execution left a lot to be desired!

do a search. I do not have the part # but it is a switch you can get at napa or an automotive store.
I have already tried going that route. I bought a switch off of amazon that was supposed to be the same switch, but it had the wrong thread. Apparently the mid-controls use a completely different switch than the forward control V-rods, and there isn't an aftermarket alternative, at least from what I am finding. If somebody can tell me otherwise, I would love to get an aftermarket part number.

Jus outta curiosity being a vrod an all...where'd ya have room fer a passenger? LMAO thats funny, a vrod going 2-up. Never seen that before. 🥴👍

Thread is M10 x 1.0 on those switches not a pipe thread like on the other models or even some of the other metric straight threads.. While the wire terminals might be different, Tusk has a copy. Ducati also uses a copy of this OEM switch. Search for Brembo, single banjo, M10 X 1.0 thread.

Thread is M10 x 1.0 on those switches not a pipe thread like on the other models or even some of the other metric straight threads.. While the wire terminals might be different, Tusk has a copy. Ducati also uses a copy of this OEM switch. Search for Brembo, single banjo, M10 X 1.0 thread.

I just ordered one. Thank you for this. Hopefully the one I ordered is correct. It gave the option of a single line or double line but didn't say what the difference was. I went with a single.

Much longer thread section on the double banjo unit. Single should offer the correct length. Let us know how it matches up and the wire terminal layout on the switch. Tusk, also has one that looks the same.
In either model, the thread length can be shortened if needed.

Unfortunately, I had to splice the wires, which wasn't a big deal since the connector melted anyway.
Ok, just curious since just about all the aftermarket replacements I've found come with that wire arrangement. Only one I found shows the end of the switch with blades showing. Forgot which one it was. No big deal either way as the switch is likely half the price of OEM.
