Saddleman has a nice tail bag, decent size. TS 3200 DE and another without zip off side bag. I have the 3200 DE fits good,use a bungee instead of the quick release straps on the back. Warning, the bag does contact the rear fender at the seat cut out. You will want something to protect the paint.

I dont want anything that will touch my paint. Depending on when I get my fender back from fabrication It will be custom painted and I dont want to take the chance to scratch it.

 

I carry tools on long hauls ever since we needed some basic sockets and wrenches on the road.
I carry a tire plug kit and a co2 nozzle with enough cartridges to get a 260 down the road.
Spare gloves for the ones that get wet.
Duck tape.
Cell phone & charger
Money
Credit cards
This trip I'm carrying a clear face shield.

You should post up a pic of the luggage rack and box you had on when we cruised the first time.That thing wasn't bad looking at all.

 

If I'm not going to be gone more than three days, I use a large back pack I got at Walmart. Just let the shoulder straps be a little loose and the back pack will sit on your pillion pad with very little pull on you. Works just fine and only cost about $25.

 

200$ and I still need to get some kind of luggage and rain suit. I have a back pack I use to go to the gym but its not big enuff for KC.
We'll the search for luggage is not going to we'll how about some rain suits!

 

Just bought a set of Tourmaster Sentinel rain jacket and pants last weekend. ~$130 for both. Was looking at the Defender set (~$60), but the Sentinel is better quality, and the pants have an extra heat shield on the bottom of the leg, right where my leg will be next to the pipes.

Jacket is self-storing into an inner pocket. Pants have a bag with them. They should squish down all right into a bag/pack, but they're not the smallest things...

Looked at the HD rainsuits, but since my other gear is Tourmaster, and their rain gear is sized to fit over their gear, what the heck. And it was a little cheaper than the full bright orange HD ones. (Got yellow for visibility.) Yeah, I'm a walking Tourmaster billboard when I'm geared up. Better than being a Harley billboard...:hidesbeh:

How do they work? Got me. Hasn't rained enough for me to try any of it yet this week.

 

Put it in a box- ship it to Basswoods and they will have it for you when you get there- just carry what you need to get down the road.

Wear old clothes there- throw them away go to WalMarts and get some new ones or ship the old ones home.

Me- I'll strap everything on I can, it either fits or stays home.

 

I have a modded gym bag I use for trips. I put a board in it that fits snug across the bottom - a shelf from my shop actually. I pack a few t-shirts under it and then bungee it to the rear pillion. The T-shirts keep the bag from shifting side to side and the board keeps it off the tins. I can pack it full and then strap a backpack to the top of it. Makes a good back rest, NO bags on the bike, not even a luggage rack. I can pack way more stuff than I need in it and still have room for my skid lid and souvineers and $20 bills won from my Iowa Brothers on the way home.

Or you can always ship a box down there and have Kurt drop it off for you at Hawkeye HD on the way home when his trailer stops for gas

Doublecab pickup, 30 foot toyhauler, a couple of golden retreivers.......wait, that's my list! Just bring money. Ship everything else. Aerostich makes great rain gear - Gore-tex, breathable - does what it is supposed to do. Lasts for years. Wear that, spare gloves in a pocket, and roll.
