Disappointed to say that I will not be purchasing any more products from Cary. I ordered a pipe on 4/08 and told it was going to be one week to ship. As you can probably tell I don't have it yet. That's not the issue though. I called after two weeks seeing if the pipe had been sent and Tina said no. I asked how long it might be she said it shouldn't be too long because they were waiting on pipes from the chromer. I asked if it would be another 2 weeks and she replied it shouldn't be that long. You guesed it 2 weeks later no pipe. I asked Tina, after 4 weeks of waiting, what's going on, and she said I was #44 in line. So I asked how many pipes get shipped weekly 5, 10, ? No answer for me. Trying to be patient I called after 6 weeks. Tina said I was #54!!! WOW IS THAT STRANGE!! 44 TO 54. Her reply to that was they had shipped 10 so that's why the change. Shouldn't I be 34 then? I let her know of my disappointment, once again she had no answer. So here I am, waiting on my pipe, almost 2 months, so i can get the rest of my performance upgrades installed so I don't have to dyno the bike twice. If this pipe was available from another company, I'd have switched. I would've been fine if they'd told me 10 weeks to ship. But lack of intelligence and f***ing around on their part. Means I get to spend my money elsewhere. Sorry, but I needed to vent bad!!! Hopefully no other v-rodders out there experience the same.

I talk to Cary at least once a week and I can tell you that Cary got swamped and has had chromer issues. Taking it out on Tina will do no good. I understand frustration , I also know Cary and I'm sure getting a refund was not a problem. I think the number issue is because of the way they setup shipping and when a large number of pipes were wrong and had to be rechromed it caused everything to be set back.

yeah but folks, i must say they have the nicest products around and its the price to pay for high quailty material and wouldnt care how long i would have to wait for there pipes, bc imho there the best looking pipes around and lately i have been saving my pennys to buy a pair, and on the other hand chromers make me sick if anybody else has ever had to deal with them its a one way battle and there winning my buddy took his pipes in to get chomed and the guys said it will take any where from 2 to 12 weeks to get them done

CFR Arrived

I had my CFR exhaust on order for 10 weeks. They came last week and I can honestly say that the are the best looking AND sounding pipes out there. Knowing what I know today, I would have waited any amount of time necessary to get the best, and I did.

Mine finaly arrived and I do think it looks and sounds awsome. But that said I am not impressed with the quality. The welds look crappy and the chrome is so so. Is there another pipe out there even close in design, hell no but once Rinehart has there 2 into 1 available for the V-Rod I think lots of folks will go that way. It was a pain in the ass to get though and the worst part, like you said, was getting the BS answers like "it will be another week." If the Rinehart pipe was out there now I would have gotten it just because of the run-around I had to put up with trying to get the CFR.

rdezbtr sorry your having a horrible time with the pipe, I think half of your frustration is because of Tina! When I call to ask about products or to check on something that I ordered I always always ask to speak to Cary. I made the mistake of trying to speak to Tina one time and thats all that it took. Cary is one of the nicest guys Ive ever dealt with, and his products are some of the best Ive seen. :2cents:

Walrus (Don) & I went on a ride the other day, and he is running the Joker pipe. It looks very similar to the CFR pipe, but is made of stainless. Some don't like the fact that it "wheats up" not long after installing it, but I love the look. In fact, I am thinking of getting one - it will go great with the Smokey Gold on my bike.

You HAVE to patient with a small manufacturer. They are making something that they will only sell a few of each year (200?) and they are doing their best. The time frames can jump around a bit. Same for any limited production custom bike parts like seats, frames, etc.

If you want an exhaust NOW, just order one from Dennis Kirk or J&P... They have Samson, Bub, etc.

I've been reading a number of posts about CFR lately. I've decided to look elsewhere, I'm very sorry to say. Cary may be a great guy, his stuff looks and sounds great. However customer service rates high on my list, something Cary/CFR seems to have lost as of late. I have called CFR a number of times looking for information on a set of thier handle bars. I have spoke to Tina every time, she didn't have the information and said Cary would return my call. Three weeks later, no call back. Not sure what the problem is, but if Tina or chromers, etc. are the problem, replace them. If something is going to take 2 1/2 months to arrive, say so, be honest. Being a "small" manufacturer is no excuse for not being straight with someone willing to lay down $500 for a pipe, seat, handle bar, etc. The question is not the amount of time it takes to receive your product, the issue is the customer isn't getting straight information. Backup your great product with great service and I'll reconsider.

CFR.......

CFR makes some of the best products on the market! He is a small company that in the last year has just blown up! He still has other business that require his time so give him a break. I can tell you better than anyone sometimes it requires time to get what you want. I have been dealing with CFR for two years now. I have continued to use him and send business his way when I can. I don't need to do this for any reason. I strongly believe in his products and know others will be happy with their purchase. I am sorry that you cannot wait, but I can tell you first hand....CUSTOMER SERVICE is one of the best products CFR has!

I spoke to Cary the other day and like Max said, he had a rejection rate of about 75% on his last run. The chrome plater was just not providing CFR with the quality product he wants on the street. I am sure everyone would rather wait to get the quality part. Or you could not wait and get something you would have to call and complain about and then try to work through a warranty issue with......I chose to wait and I'm a happy customer

CFR Seat, CFR Exhaust, CFR Custom rear hub, CFR CUSTOM SWING ARM! I have delt with him as much or more than anyone...so I speak from experience!

I've never dealt with CF, so keep that in mind. As a business owner (in the TV industry), I totally disagree that a customer has to have superhero levels of patience and leniency when it comes to dealing with small businesses.

From the sounds of it, the issue with CF isn't with delays or manufacturing durations, it's with bad CS and intolerable communcation skills. Customers shouldn't have to chase up their order week after week under any circumstances, and if they do they should be informed honestly as to additional time requirements on their order and be given an option to cancel.

I'm sure most people would much more understanding if the people there took ten minutes to inform everyone of accurate timescale changes with their orders - a blanket email would suffice. If CF cannot give accurate updates on orders, either due to bad chromers, overwhelming amounts of orders or whatever, then they need to take a good look at their business model, their customers and their suppliers.

I simply don't buy 'they're a small business, cut them huge amounts of slack'.

There's no excuse for being misled when it comes to your order and the fulfilment duration. If it's going to take 3 months to get my product then be a stand-up company and say so, or get out of the game.

:them: But, CFR pipes are IMHO the best sounding and looking pipes on the market at this time! I think they will be worth the wait! Sounds like Max might be able too help if you ask him... really really nice.

Hmmmm....I had a small installation issue with mine and within MINUTES of posting, Caary Faas himself PM'd me on the forum and even followed up. Unless things changed, CFR had the best cust service in the business IMVHO and experience.

From where I sit, things have changed. What his customer sevice was a year ago isn't relivent, it only matters what it is now. I hope they change back, he does make an outstanding product. There is time for him to get it under control. Lets hope he does. As for talking directly to Cary, my thought is, you shouldn't have to. She should be trained to answer 90% issues that have been posted on this board.

Look...bottom line is this: If you put a group buy out on this forum(10,000 members???) you better be ready for the rush. Don't put your dick out there if it's going to get spanked. This was a bad move by CFR. I agree with the majority of posters out here in that customer service is half the sale. I don't care how nice the product is or how nice the owner is...if you make a move to sell your product with the knowledge that you could have an overwhelming demand, you damn well better be ready. And if you can't pull it off, then be honest with your customer and start sending out refunds...or atleast offer it and let the customer decide. Just a bad piece of PR on Cary's part...bummer.

Please wait just a minute. I did a group buy with a set number and set time frame. I wasn't even aware someone had jumped on an extension of it. I think Cary went way out of his way to honor well beyond what was agreed upon.

I have never heard of Cary refusing anyone a refund for any reason.

I think we are missing the forest for this one tree. There are maybe a dozen different exhaust options for the V-Rod. There is a SERIOUS LACK of aftermarket interest for the V-Rod. True, the options grow more every day, but when someone with Cary Faas' history in automotive performance and engineering comes on the scene and makes a HIGH DEMAND product, with his exacting standards, is it unreasonable to see a delay in production?

It is still a small scale buisness focused on SPRINT CARS. It just happens that he shares our passion for the V-Rod and has a network in place to bring some products out. Everyone in the V-Rod buisness is relatively NEW and GROWING PAINS are part of that process.

We have become such a McDonalds culture, we can't wait for a product that works well, performance and sound wise, and looks good asthetically?

This motorcycle we rave about and take such pride in is a luxury item. It is as close as I will ever get to having an EXOTIC VEHICLE. Approach it from that perspective, and you'll find that though this is inconvenient, the result is worth the wait.

Everyone please clear your mind and go for a ride!!!!!!

I didn't get in on the "group buy" on the CFR exhaust, as a matter of fact I missed it within one day, same thing with the CFR seat. I'm fine with that, no problem. I paid full price for both, again I'm okay with that. However, working in customer service for a major company for 15 years, man I'm telling you that customer service is easily half way to closing the deal. Honesty and being forthcoming IMHO would have reduced the number of member entries on this thread.

For the people who are friends with Cary and think he's a great guy. I'm not going to disagree as a matter of fact he just bought a glide at the same H-D I purchased my "D" from and the owners really like him. If I purchase an item and a delivery date has been set I expect it then. If they can't deliver due to uncontrolled circumstances I'll understand but as the seller make the effort to call and TELL ME!! Please don't make me call time and time again to get a BS answer. Do the right thing, be honest, be forthcoming and I guarantee the people..... his paying customers will understand. :2cents:
