Hello i am new to the new v-rods and just wanted to say hi and tell all how i came to buy my lovley new v-rod.Well i have been shopping around and i have owned a bike for the past 4 1/2 years and went shopping for a new bike and i looked and found a new 08 v-rod that was a left over so i said lets make a deal well all went well and i test rode it and loved it.So i went up and signed all the papers and said ok lets go home and go out and ride "like most of us" so just as i was about to leave it started to rain i siad hell i have ridden in the rain more than enough times and the bike had around 75 miles so i figured the film the put on the tires when they are new so they dont stick to the molds was worn off by now and said well hell i will just go home and take it easy with the rain and all will be fine.Well all went well untill i got about a 1/2 mile from home and then the front tire slid and by the time i realized that shit i am going to hit the ground and then i was skipping across the ground and watching my new bike getting trashed as it was skidding across the ground and the train tracks so i dont know how bad the damage is to the bike but i guess i was lucky and only have a broken rid and a few bumps but other than that all is good for me now i just have to see what the insurance company wants to do.YEA not really well nice to meet yall and hope to get to know more about my bike. Thanks guys mike:bash:

Welcome, and sorry about your spill. I'm glad you're still here to post, and that it wasn't any worse.

Yea thanks i know the front highway peg was ripped off the frame and it looks tweeked but is the front of the frame looks like it is bolted on is this true or is something different it is a 08 "VRSCD" I just want to know if the will fix it because i would be pissed if they trashed it it only has like 80 miles on the bike. Thanks mike

The lower frame rails are bolted on. The pegs are mounted on the frame rails. Make sure your dealer insures that the shifter shaft did not bend any also. These are known to break, at a later date, if bent.
(Nevermind, I thought it went down on the left side!)

i have the mid controls and the brake lever is f#cked and so are the pipes, the bars but what do you think they will do to the bike i dont really want the to tell me to buy a new bike because well it is but i dont really know how much damage was really done i think the triple tree is f%$ked but i dont know it was pulling hard to the right so i dont know i should know but later this week i hope.

Take a deep breath, and wait and see what the dealer says. Read up here, while you wait.

Check out the "VROD Racing" section, on the main forum page, or the "search" function at the top of this page.

That's a real shotty way to start out! Sorry about your luck and good to hear your OK. Like HoneyB said...take a deep breath and wait to see what the dealer says. Good Luck and hope you get back in the saddle soon.

Mike, welcome!

Heal up and hang in there, your bike will be good as new sooner than you think.

That's a "How do you do?" if I ever read one!

oh well i hope you have better luck on your next ride.i don't think i'd take it to the track until i got used to it a little better you know.it really would look bad if you wrecked the bike twice on the first two days that you got to ride it after all it is still practically brand new you know.anyway,i'm glad that you're here and :vrodforu:thanks.DrDave :lamer:

wow crazy first story. how old are you if i may ask?

WOW, Man so sorry to hear. Welcome. Plz take no offense, but how many miles ya have on the bike ya traded in? I don't think I recall hearing anyone take a dump in the rain because of a new bike/tires. Anybody else hear of this? I would like to pass on to buds if it's verified.

The 'mold release' on new tires is a slippery compound. 100 miles of travel is recommended before "normal'' riding.

Can it be washed off?

Can it be washed off?
It gets scrubbed off by the road. I've never heard of anything to wash it off that won't hurt the tires.
With new tires, I just start off easy, and start leaning a little more into
corners as I go. Usually by doing slow figure 8's in a parking lot.

Good to know, thanks. Dealers never mentioned over the years.
