Popular mechanics got a 12.08 out of an M109, a guy on the M109 forum has posted an 11.6 time, A guy on hdforums.com has stated he saw one run an 11.62, I'm sure you'll find better or worse times all over the net.

Andrew Hines posted here that he ran an 11.54 on an X and his team mate ran an 11.56 on another different X. So an 11.6 out of a VRSCX is a factual statement in my opinion. But the review I read on it in a magazine had it in the 12s.

Another member here posted that he shaved .3 seconds off his times with a swap to a 26 tooth pulley. (BUY THIS!!!!)

I think the bikes are so close in potential in stock form that it's going to come down to the rider.

Does the equality in 1/4 mile times make the bikes equal? 21,000 people here know the obvious answer to that one.

That would be me and it is 100% true!! For $250 you can't beat it in cheap performance!!!

I might do this as well. Mine would love it. Only thing is, what happens to the top speed with this? I would imagine it would drop quite a bit.

I have had mine to 130 on the 26T pulley. was close to redline at that point. Maybe had a couple mph left on it.

Good to know. I don't need anything over 130 anyways. And to get there faster is even better. Thanks

Would there be issues going back to a 28t after?

A 26t sounds nice to hold me over 'till I can get a turbo/BB on, but then I would want to go back up to 28 or maybe even 30t...

I hear you have to do some grinding with the 26t...

Once you have done this you can always switch back. I have had mine apart a couple times now, so i can get the pulley swapped in an hour or less now!!
Yes there is grinding involved, but it isn't that much!

What do you grind off? And you're sure that whatever was ground off doesn't impact the 28t? Why was it (whatever it is you have to grind off) there in the first place?

The inner diameter of the 26T pulley is smaller than that of the 28T pulley. Behind it there is the removeable cover that houses the shaft seal. The 26T pulley will contact the 4 hex head bolts that hold theat cover on as well as the ears of that cover where the bolts go through. I ground off part of the heads of these bolts and the ears as well. The pulley I bought might be alittle different than the turbo-tec so not sure about that one. When all was said and done, the pulley spins freely now!

i ordered the 26t pulley...am i gonna need any special tools to swap them out?
30mm thin wall socket, may need a 3 jaw puller or bolt-style puller. Hex key for the pulley cover. 16mm socket for the three bolts that hold the pulley to the flange.

HD says use new bolts/ pulley nut but I just went with the old ones and have had no problems!!

For an 08DX you will not need to do any grinding. You will only have to tap (supplied) the pulley mounts. No problem going back to a 28t when you want to. In fact if you go turbo it is recommended that you use the 28t.
