Water cooled... not air cooled
unless porsche help with another engine?????:stilpoke:
I wrote to the author:
In your article Lake Washington Tech to offer degree in Harley motorcycle maintenance in the Kirkland Reporter you indicate that, “Students in the program go through a six-quarter, two-year program to learn the basics of ignition systems and power transmissions, eventually working their way into specialized classes on the motorcycle’s air-cooled engine (co-developed by Porsche) and hi-tech electronic systems.” The potential error I see is that the engine most recently co-developed by Porsche is the VRSC water-cooled engine. Air-cooled engines have been Harley Davidson’s historical mainstay.
I followed that up within seconds with this:
Please be aware that I did not mean to imply that Porsche was never consulted by Harley Davidson prior to the Revolution or VRSC water-cooled engine. It is just that this is the engine the Motor Company touts as co-developed with the German firm.
His response:
"You are correct. I believe we issued a correction in our paper following the publication of this story.
Thank you for contacting me wih this & I hope to provide you with error-free coverage in the future!"
Kind Regards,
