sorry guys this is another exhaust thread. i have been reading and searching exhausat threads for 3 days now ithink i have read every post on it. now i'm looking for some help.
i was looking at reinhearts but the wifes says too loud when we road a rod with them. so i started looking into other setups. i listened to some vid clips of v-mods i really liked them but peole were saying that thrie ears would ring after rides is this true if it is then there is not v-mods. i was looking at st and read they run the best wide open how loud are they wide open? also read they are low and drag the ground. true?

i have read the threads and saw the v-mods won for hte best sound andhte reinhearst came in second but they both sound loud. i'm looking for someting like my old harley was with the stock baffeles out. not so much the sound but how loud it was. it was quiet most of the time and barked when craked open. what is my best bet. v-mods or super trap. help please.

Go with the Supertrapp, they make good hp. and sound great. I have one I took off my bike when I added the Turbo you can have for $200. + shipping or my wife is going to Milwaukee next weekend if your interested and near there. Bill

Look into the 16ga. Factory flash, good power, nice low rumble.

The 16ga are the loudest exhaust available from HD. When V-Modded, they can become "shrill", I have been told, and ate louder than either of the "swept" exhausts. With a full helmet, even these can become tiresome after a few hous in the saddle, but I have been complimented many times on the sound. And at high power settings, they are quiet impressive. Best part, no fuel enrichment device required to get 110 hp.

IMO, the V-mods are not that loud at all, I have them on my bike. I can ride all day helmetless and not have any ear ringing. Also is your cheapest option.

ok here is another part to the question can i run the v-mods with nothing other then a h-d flash or do i need a pc,rf or other setup? i have heard vids of the 16ga v-mods and it is too loud. i wear a full helmet so it willl quiet it down some. how does the v-mod compaire to the 16ga on hp? daniii are you sayig the the 16's are louder then the v-mod stock pipe?

With V-Mods you probably should use some fuel mod to avoid a flat spot at 4k rpm, I've been told. A 16ga V-Mod is definately loud. I believe the 16ga stock is not as loud as either swept pipes v-modded. But it may be subjective. And it may depend on rpm. In my opinion, the 16ga have a slightly lower (frequency) sound. They are the most like a "traditional" HD sound, at low rpm. But sound bites aren't going to tell the story. And a full helmet may quiet things for a bit, but all pipes tend to get 'boomy' after a little while inside a full helmet.

what i'm thinking is can i run a h-d flash on v-mods then if i don't like them i can go to the 16ga if i do like them then i can add a rf or pc will it hurt my bike to run the v-mods and only a flash.

Brngrhd, I think you can do that. Do the flash and vmod your stock pipe and if it is too loud then get the 16ga. I too have the 16ga and I like the sound then also It is topless and from my opinion, I think it sounds a little better and pulls a little better.

I paid $450 for my V-mod and a Powercommander III, cheaper than just the pipe in most other cases. Powercommander can be used on all pipes, just download the correct map. If you are not happy with all of it, you can sell it off, where as the re-flash $$$ is a one time deal you cannot get your money back on or re-flash for free with a different pipe. Do not run the V-mods without modifying your fuel map, it will be too lean-

i know i'm going to end up with v-mods or the se 16ga pipes that is why i was thinking that i could od the flash and run the v-mods if i don't like them then go with the se pipes. but you guys say it will be to lean. if i do like them then i will get the pc just trying to say money if i don't like it.
