I just want to say I made this post in the problem area of this site a few weeks back. "--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hey guys, this is my first post. Have been looking all over the net for a A to my Q and was hoping one of you could help me out.

Long story short, a few years back I got some loud tips put on the end of my factory exhaust. Since then I have had nothing but issues with my 03 V-Rod. I have had it to the shop no less than ten times in the past two years for the same issues at hand.

I was told the company that made those tips went out of bizz by the HD shop. All I know is that I can't get but 60 miles on a tank of gas, and keep killing plugs. Have had a tune-up done twice in the past two years with very little miles in the middle. Was told it's the wrong "tuner" in there for the tips and they need to dina tune it every time to kill all the dead spots.

This all makes me very upset because I have had everything done at the same HD shop (got it there new as well) and they have very little on file.

I don't know a thing about bikes, but I think they kept the factory "tuner" in when they did the pipes and now can't find the set points to make it all click because of the pipe company going out of bizz.

Any tips? Should I just say the hell with it and go all new with the pipes/tuner?"

Since then, I went to a tech that told me to try this unit. Can't tell you how happy I am with the way my bike is now running. I can't tell you how or why, but it works!!! Running smooth, with more power and far better fuel economy.
Sounds like all of your problems were caused by the dealer. Glad you got it sorted out though. It's also good to hear another positive review about the Cobra device. Now they need to do some dyno testing and publish the set up, controls, and results.

I'm not real sure anyone is to blame for this one. I guess the tuner they put in when I got the pipes only has three set points or something like that. I have little doubt many of you guys could have got that thing running fine. But again, I don't know much about bikes. I just enjoy the ride and do what I am good at so I can pay the guys that fix my ride.

But yes, for a guy like me that Cobra system was just about ideal. I went from getting 60-70 miles to a tank to now getting a little over 100. I also have much more power and just a all around better running Rod.

VERY happy, to say the least!

A properly running bike really is the bottom line.

That's a fact right there. Again, very happy with the way this all played out. I was damn close to getting in the pipe market with no real reason to do so. This unit was ideal for my needs at hand, that's all. If I can save $500-$600 along the way, I'm game.
