So, my clutch has decided to reverse it's self. Bike begins to move when clutch lever is pulled in, when let out the bike acts like the clutch is pulled in. I have replaced clutch master, hose, and secondary... still acting up. Pulled exhaust, drained oil, and pulled cover. Clutch rotates 1/4 turn in each direction, none of the disk look jammed. bike can be bushed while in gear with out pulling clutch handle. Any one have any ideas to the cause?

I would suspect that you have the clutch installed wrong. Sounds like the discs are not in the groves correctly or are hanging up on the clutch basket. If it was mine, I'd take it back apart and very carefully reinstall making sure it is lined up correctly and in the correct order as per the manual.

Could the hub nut be loose?
When the clutch lever is released the basket spins on output shaft, when lever is pulled in the slave cyl pushes against the clutch pack and the basket forcing basket to tighten up onto output shaft without releasing the pack disks thus engaging the trans.

No mention of bike age but would suspect it is master piston assembly. That's where I would look first. Have you changed bars or had assembly off for any reason?
This is for an 06D. Prior to the clutch issue No, the bars or assembly had not been messed with. Clutch worked one minute and jammed the next. Sense then I have replaced the Master, Secondary, new line, and new fluid, flushed the entire system. So far, stilling having the same issue.

Thanks for the info

As of right now, the clutch as not been removed. It was working fine, then suddenly stopped. I have only taken the cover off to see if anything was hanging up. So, far, every thing seems to be in the right grooves.

When I checked it, it did not appear to be loose.

Sounds like you are going to have to pull the clutch to see what's up with it. Might me a cracked clutch basket or some other anomaly that is causing the issue. The good thing is that it's not difficult to pull the clutch and it gives you the opportunity to rebuild it with upgraded parts.

Start a new post so present members can see and respond. This one is 8 years old. Give as detailed as possible what's happening and what you've done to repair. If only the exact same thing happened to everyone................

Ok thanks, I only replied to this particular post because its only one i could find with exactly same issue. 2006 vrod, replaced clutch disc (Barnett) 5 new springs also. Now when you pull the clutch lever in the bike will go. Let lever out bike stop. Lever is hatd as a rock to pull in. I've pulled it apart 3 times and verified that all parts installed correctly. Ordered master cylinder rebuild kit and looking for slave cylinder rebuild kit currently. If I'm missing something I'd appreciate any help.
