Changed my exhaust and now it won't start

Looking for some help here. I decided to take off my Rineharts and mount my new BSL exhaust today. It went pretty well until I tried to start the bike afterwards. Now it won't start. I am running a PCIIIr. I tried bipassing the PC and that didn't work. I tried switching the system and fan relays to see if the relay was bad. I checked the codes. Came up with P0113 IAT sensor open/high but I checked that. I put it on the charger for few hours. Nope, that's not it either. You can smell gas but it won't fire. Any thoughts? I am planning on having it tuned with a SERT but I would feel alot better if I got it running first.
Thanks in advance for any help and a big thanks to RJ for helping me run through the steps above.

Billy, Billy, Billy,

When are you going to stop messing with that bike of yours and give the rest of us Chicago boys a chance to catch up to you???

Did you check your fuse box/power commander for water? I was told that a hair dryer was used to get somebody’s bike started at MWT!

Billy,

I think we need to determine if we have spark. If you're smelling gas, we may have flooded the engine. Pull the plugs and have a peek.

Another thing to check is the IAC spindle, to make sure it's opening.
It won't idle if the IAC isn't stepping open correctly.

Either way, the airbox bottom has to come off for these next two steps.

Did you relocate the IAT while changing the pipes? Is it plugged all the way in? Is it broken?

I'll pull the airbox bottom off tomorrow after work and check the plugs and the IAC.

I did relocate the PCIIIr from under the airbox to inside the airbox. I checked to make sure I plugged the sensor in all the way. I will inspect it to make sure it's not broke.

Now I'm also thinking that I may have damaged the starter solenoid while prying on the front header pipe. Is there a way to check it?

Billy,

The bike cranks. The solenoid is still good. Do you think you might have bounced your pry-tool on the crank position sensor? That can cause the issue you're having.

No, I didn't get near it. I think it's flooded. The codes are cleared now and when I try to start it the fuel smell is really strong.

Make sure your throttle bodies are closed. You can check your Voltage on the Throttle Position sensor if you have access to a Scanalizer, or TwinscanII. You could even use the PCIII, while hooked up to the computer to make sure the throttle position is zero.

Visually check to make sure the throttle butterflys are closed on start.

The bike can enter a "clear Flood mode" where it will spark, but not allow fuel flow to help clear a flood condition. The manual is unclear how this can get resolved, but it does say to check the voltage from the Thottle Position Sensor.

I quote:

"Check TP sensor value with Scanalyzer. If TP sensor is greater than 90%, system is in "clear flood" mode and engine will not start. While spark is present, fuel is shut off. Prolem can be mechanical, such as stuck throttle cables."

Well I got it started! I decided to pull off the billet end cap and discs and try it. It started right up. Now I just have to figure how to rework the discs and end cap.
Thanks again for all your help Rowland :notworth:

Which baffle do you have in it?
My exhaust came with the street baffle mounted in it.
Did your exhaust come with six disks also?
The end cap is a solid disk. Looks like they have them with various hole arrangements on their website - some that can even be adjusted.
Sorry to hear about your difficulties!

Oh come now Billy, you and I both know what happened was you left your keys at the bottom of my frog togs and then we blow dryed your entire bike and it started right up. Glad to hear you got it worked out, we're going to have to get together soon bud.

It has the street baffle in it. It came that way just like yours. I wasn't able to get the baffle out even though it's only two screws holding it in. I'm going to try and remove it again this weekend and try the race baffle. Yes, mine came with 6 discs as well. I've got to mess with it a little more. Even with all six discs in and the solid end cap, there's not enough air flow so I'm going to experiment with a couple of things. I'll keep you posted.

Yeah, when we do, remind me I'm going to have to talk to you about a nice little project I have planned that I'm going to need your help with, but first I'm going to have to save a few more pennies.

Let me know when you want to get together. We may not be able to ride, but it's always good to see friends.

Jeff

One more thing...how much you want for that PCIII? Any problems with it since watergate? My bro, as you know bought that screamin eagle and wants his pipes V-modded and we'd need a PCIII or some fuel management device.
