Stupid question, but is the shock under pressure? When I take it apart to mount the lights, i won't need a compressor or sorts right?

the shock is loaded jack the rear wheel off the ground before unbolting the shock!!!! well unless you want your teeth knocked out. other then that removeing the shock is a piece of cake.

So In order to put these on, I'll have to jack up the bike and get the rear tire off the ground to remove the pressure?

correct!!! anytime you are going to unbolt the shock you need jack the rear wheel off the ground!!

I have a family member that has a jackstand for Harleys, suppose that'll work? Then again that only lifts the frame. I'd need what kind of jack to lift the tire and swingarm?

You don't lift just the tire. You lift the whole bike off the ground. And that in turn releases the pressure on the suspension. You can see mine here.

So what they have should work as you need it.

no lift the rear of the frame .. if you lift it by the swing arm the shock wont unload..... and pepboys has Mototrcycle jacks for like 100 bucs a great investment
