One thing that should be said here, Pingel has great support. I talked with Troy from pingel today, quick to help and sending replacement parts for a failed kill module right away, no questions ask.

Kudos to pingel.

Greg I just installed the pingel up-down electric shifter. Very nice setup.

sound vaguely familiar, Rick?

Pingel has several items that they manufacture and have patents on....sure they private label some stuff and sell it under their name.....but that is nothing that ALOT of other companies don't do as well....very reputable companies.....
They've been around for along time and they are still the main sponsor for the FASTEST (and quickest) motorcycle on the planet. They are good people and they are looking out for us VRodders.....including Project V....they are personally interested in seeing us succeed and in seeing the VRod as a model succeed....

bash away.....

I think most folks are waiting to see if HUDSS gets the mounting bracket issue resolved.
Due to the seemingly infinite mounting possibilities for the bottles, the best way to go would be to use the brackets that come in the kit and have them machined to fit the VRod downtubes....this seems to be the most cost effective solution for the end user.....

Does anyone care about insurance?

I was told by two bike insurers that NOS or Turbo was a more expensive class of insurance. In case someone cares. The BB already doubled my insurance.

You told them about the BB?????? I've got over $10K in mine in parts only, and my insurance company only covers up to $6500 in custom parts. God only knows what I have in it if I had to put a price on my fabrication...
Know what you mean about the custom parts too. I was told the price increase for custom is not just because of the collision but because the bike becomes a greater target for theft; not sure if underwriting takes that into account but that is what an agent said when I fainted at the quote for custom!

As for the BB- hard to miss, its on the side of the engine in 2 places. Like warranties, a some companies look for reasons to deny insurance claims. And a good adjuster won't miss a thing. For a few dollars a month, I'm not risking my insurance coverage by not reporting the obvious engine displacement.

.... if I understand this situation correctly, the kit from our friends at Pingell includes everything one needs, they just have to drill out the mounting holes to make them a larger diameter? I think the verb "machined" is worrying some out there who don't want a hassle, but if I hearing this right you only have to enlarge 4 holes???

My Question: The kit comes with 2 bottles, right? will I be able to mount the left side bottle at the same time my Pingell shifter is mounted there? I'm thinking it can be done?

The part of the clamp that goes around the front downtube has to be enlarged, not the screw holes. The word "machining" was used because it would be almost impossible to accurately drill out a hole that size ....
Any decent machine shop should be able to do it on a vertical mill for $20 or so....

Jeff,

Did you have those custom made? Your whole bike is "pretty" not just the bottle mounts.
Thank you!! I got the system from Eagle HD, Rick and Paul came up with it and I'm not sure if it was custom or not, obviously the engraving was custom but I do not know about the mounts. Rick installed the system so he could probably answer better than me. Jeff

It's the NX dual nozzle harley kit with Edelbrock bottle and mounts.
Eagles custom made bottle bracket mounts. And of course eagle
custom engraved clamp. Not for the light pocketed $$$$.

Okay ladies and gentlemen....after much confusion and discussing with Donna Pingel.....I did not understand her correctly....the kit does not come with any brackets at all.....but she has informed me that they have come up with a bracket that will bolt directly to the downtubes and fit the 10oz bottles to make this kit as complete as it can possibly be......She is having the brackets mounted to her personal 2003 VRod and will take pics for us to post......we will then be able to offer the kit as a complete bolt on package.
This misunderstanding was entirely my fault, and I apologize for all of the confusion......Donna tells me that we should be able to offer the revised kit in about a week or so.....

Thanx
