It may have made that on a dyno if he had mineshaft air conditions(that is weather conditions that give you air equivelant to below sea level air).

I have seen significant gains in power numbers with the further the air drops below sea level. What I would like to see is his dyno sheet showing the air conditions and if his runs were done corrected or uncorrected.

Cool beans, sbkool, regardless of the dyno numbers. My son has assured me there are facts and then there is the truth .. in this case who really gives 2 shits, it certainly isn't going to change how the bike runs and how you feel cracking the throttle.

True Andyv I really wasn't trying to get in a arguement with anyone about hp & tq numbers. I really could care less about that. I just love these bikes to me they are all badass. Gonna go drag racing in the spring with a few friends and see what it does? But all in all just like to ride it like i stole it

and the fact that YOU like it and your happy with it, is all that matters. who gives a rats ass about 3 or 4 horsepower here and there, unless your heads up drag racing.i don't care what anyone says, theres no way in hell someone can tell the difference in a few horsepower with the seat of their pants. they'll be plenty argue this point but their as full of sh!t as a Christmas turkey.

I like my setup very well right now. The bike runs real good and know popping or anything like. Like some of the friendlier members I really don't give a shit what anybody else thinks. I just like the vrod period mine or anybody elses. Gonna run the motorcycle class at my local track in spring. They have a dial-in class and thats where I'm gonna start.

Wow (THAT IS AWESOME!).
As for me.. Santa left me CFR's with HD Race Tuner, and a K & N. Waiting for the rest of the snow to melt to bring it in for install and Dyno. Can't wait.

It's not making 127 horsepower. Plain and simple fact.

127 would be a bike with a 1250 with stage II cams, throttle bodies, exhaust, topless and a tune.
+1

No V-Rod makes that much that is otherwise stock with just a stage 1 (pipe, air filter, remap). Either that dyno is WAY off generously, or the dyno operator is a liar. Shit, you can even look at any of the mags that dynoed the 1250 V-Rod, any year, and they made 110hp or less at the wheel. 127 at the crank maybe, but not at the wheel. Get it dynoed at 2 or 3 differet shops, and then see what you get.

That stage 1 combo may work great, but would never add more than 8 RWHP at the peak.

Midrange is another deal. I wrote and shot an article for Hot Bike Magazine a few years back (check my old posts for details) and my 04 B that already had the SE 16-gauge exhaust, K&N filter and a SE remap, then got a ThunderHeader exhaust, a SERT dyno tune, and went topless. I gained 13 RWHP and 13 lb/tq around 5000 rpm (same day dyno runs, same dyno), and that was OVER the already piped bike - with great gains at peak as well. So it's safe to assume that it likely made (in the midrange) 15+ hp and tq over a fully stock 1130cc bike.

After that experience, and the incredible change in the bike (amazing power and sound gains, ran perfectly idle to redline, and lost over 15 lbs) I would recommend to ANYONE the combo of a ThunderHeader exhaust, K&N filter with topless airbox, and SERT dyno tune. It produced an all-new bike.

I also was not trying to argue either, just stating facts that I know from countless hours of being strapped on various chassis dyno's with my various rides. The motorcycle dyno is not different and how power is made is a combination of your best tuning ability and the weather conditions the run is made in,thats all.

It would be nice though to see those sheets to compare with what some of the others have done in similar weather, but,to me its not a issue if its not as I will continue to tune with what I have for the best results.......Andy

I forgot all about this thread, just re-read the whole thing and I've come to several conclusions.

1. Everyone thinks the pipe they have is the best.
2. Some of us think a dyno tune doesn't improve performance.
3. No one has ever tuned a stock bike.
4. It's OK to have a loud bike if your neighbors dog barks.
5. Some of us are noise Nazis.
6. We'll never know if there really is a "best" pipe.

I'll be glad when summer comes so we can ride more and argue less.

Where did you have your sert tuned?

I love my CFR pipe!!! It sounds great and easy to slip om or off. LOTS OF POWER!!!
I actually have two of them, one Chrome and one Black. So depending on the mood, or the ride/show, I can easily swap.

I would be willing to sell one of my CFR pipes...pm me if interested.

That is some funny stuff...LOL

Best part is we all are still waiting for those dyno sheets to back up on his lofty claims.I agree,is it time to ride yet?.......Andy
