Same thing happened to mine. I took it apart and ended up making it worse. I ended up buying the HD led light. Much better quality IMO.

There are a lot different types and brands LED's. the colors would differ ...maybee pScyko still has his light in a drawer and you have parts to make one good again...
Is it a row of leds that is off? and do they flash when you knock on it or while riding? You could open up and reheat the solderpoints of the suspicious row of leds.
If it's a row of say four leds totaly not alive anymore it's most likely only one led in that row who's bad. you can find the bad one by bypassing theme one by one with a just wide enough screwdriver. when you bridge the bad one the others lit up brighter so one do it momentarily. Let me know when you need a LED to replace it. I'll throw it in a enveloppe for ya. i have a few:D
For sure the HD or HC (or mine bud dont make these anymore) is much brighter...but i guess if it can be fixed it works

It looks like some are loosing their brightness while a few have lost it all together.random placement too.when it pisses me off enough ill pull it apart and go from there.thankyou for your offer and help.

Doesnt sound like they used a too much expensive led. The first ones i have build had 96 5mm leds in it and that still burns your eyes out. maybee you should buy a bag of new leds and have a few evenings of 'jolly' soldering..
My motto..." I love the smell of solder in the evening" LOL..
just let me know where i can provide info or help
Angelo.

They were surface mount led's. I have a few colors lying around. My CA broke twice in the short time I had it. The first time they sent me a free replacement and I didn't even have to send them back the old one. The second time, I decided that I should try to fix it and make it work "better". As I was working on it I basically lost my patience with it and ended up breaking the cheap housing on the back after mounting all new yellow LEDs. I made it work for the time it took to get the HD light in the mail, then I chucked it angrily into the trash. HD's light was sooo much brighter. The CA company was easy enough to deal with the first time though. I didn't bother the second time around.
