Higgys playin swap the swinger

Bill seems to be melting clutches

How's that second Vrod Stomper/Codeman????????
Well, looks like it'll be ready with days to spare...unlike last year where it was literally put together, test driven around the block, and driven right up onto the trailer since it was the night before MWT :D
Needless to say, Stomper got the priviledge of riding that bike last year :hidesbeh:

If anyone is interested, it looks like I might be able to get to Depot Town in Ypsi tonight. With everything we've had going on the past 2 months I haven't been able to ride. My son's wedding in downtown Plymouth this past Saturday was met with NO POWER! We owe DTE a great big Thank You.

Anyway, if anyone is going tonight, Depot Town is on Cross Street and the Huron River and the most popular eatery is Aubree's Saloon. Hope to see some V-Rods down there one of these days soon.

hmmmmm, how far is ypsi from 8mile and I-94?

headed out right now for another shake down, this time with rear shocks and a tightened front pulley bolts (all 3 were loosey goosey upon check when noise was heard followed by a small clatter when moved by hand)

Donbo,
That was your family in Kellogg park on Saturday?! Cool! I drove past a couple of times. Even in a best case scenario, I wouldn't be available to ride until 7:30 pm tonight. (Weather is also threatening this afternoon/evening)

Johnny,
Maybe you should consider a visit to the Loctite Queen in Ann Arbor! Or better yet, invite her over to inspect and loctite your fasteners on site. Word is she'll do just about anything for some Ben & Jerry's.

Might want to consider inviting the ZipTie King over too. HH.. He likes Ben & Jerry's also.:D

Hey... I resemble that remark... :D

Update on Nbr7... I start pulling off the exhaust last night when I notice this gray looking "sand" that is stuck to the rear wheel on the brake side... WTF? Where could that have come from???

I look at the drive side and there is even more of it over there and it's not just at the bottom, it's stuck all the way around the wheel. I go around to that side and look at the belt. It's intact but there are no teeth left on it!!! Ok, maybe four or five have survived but not the 150 that are supposed to be there.... The motor overpowered the belt and tore it to shreads, turning the rubber teeth into hot gray powder that stuck to the rear wheel....

So this must have hopefully been the source of the chattering noise I heard during the test ride in the pits on Saturday, the front pulley shaking when it attempted to move the belt with no teeth. That makes the fix pretty simple. Now all I have to do is find a Screamin' Eagle belt (40627-06) today and slap it on.

Stomper, looks like you get your original clutch back... :notworth:

Since I already drained the oil on Monday night in preparation for the clutch replacement, I went ahead and took off the stator side and resealed the rubber grommet that was leaking oil. Might as well get it done while the bike is waiting for parts....

Calling Motor City and Zanotti's at 9:00 to see if they have a belt in stock, then Hales at 10:00 but since this is the SE belt that was only used on the '06 model, I might be screwed....

HH

HALE'S ROCKS!!!!!

Belt is in stock... Not only did they give me 20% off of the order but will overnight it for delivery by 10:00 AM tomorrow.

Looking like a Friday departure for me as I need to install and test the belt....

Note to self - don't be caught riding behind Johnny or Bill without my full face helmet and leathers.

Yet another reason I like to ride out front!

Another ray of sunshine for Detroit

Kwame Kilpatrick indicted on 19 charges

http://www.detnews.com/article/20100623/METRO/6230417/Kwame-Kilpatrick-indicted-on-19-charges

Detroit -- A federal grand jury has indicted former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick on 19 fraud-related charges.

Kilpatrick was indicted on 10 counts of mail fraud, three counts of wire fraud, five counts of filing false tax returns and one count of tax evasion, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.

Kilpatrick is to be arraigned on the charges July 13. The most serious charges carry a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.

"I think maybe the Kwame Kilpatrick saga is over," said Michael Stefani, the attorney who released text messages that led to a myriad of legal problems for the former mayor. "These are clearly much more serious than anything he has faced so far."

Today's indictment relates to the former mayor's nonprofit organization, the Kilpatrick Civic Fund, and cap a City Hall corruption investigation that has spanned more than five years.

It alleges that beginning in 1999, when the civic fund was formed, Kilpatrick used the fund to pay for his mayoral campaigns in 2001 and 2005 and "to pay himself cash kickbacks ... to provide money to friends and relatives, and to pay for items such as counter-surveillance and anti-bugging equipment, yoga and golf lessons, golf clubs, summer camp for his children, personal travel, moving expenses, car rentals and leases of cars and a personal residence."

Kilpatrick spokesman Mike Paul issued a statement saying the indictments did not back up the rumored corruption allegations against Kilpatrick.

"Where is the corruption, payoffs and bribes everyone expected the FBI to find attached to former Mayor Kilpatrick and his office as Mayor?" Paul asked. "They found nothing associated with him personally. Those rumors were hurtful and were lies from the pit of hell."

In recent months, the FBI and federal prosecutors have peeled back layers of corruption as they moved ever closer to the former mayor. But the indictment does not allege receipt of bribes from a former Cobo Center contractor or others.

The investigation is ongoing.

Two longtime friends and former top aides to Kilpatrick, Kandia and DeDan Milton, were charged with bribery in December and January respectively. Both brothers pleaded guilty and agreed to cooperate with the investigation.

The Miltons are among 10 people who have pleaded guilty to felony charges in connection with the Detroit corruption probe. Two others have pleaded guilty to charges arising from a spinoff corruption investigation in Southfield.

The City Hall investigation dates back to November 2004, prosecutors said in a recent court filing, making it one of the longest corruption investigations in Detroit's history.

Late in 2005, a former Cobo Center contractor who held exclusive and lucrative city contracts began cooperating with the FBI. Among other disclosures, Karl Kado said he made illegal payments of nearly $300,000 to the former mayor's father and paid about $100,000 in cash to the former mayor.

The Detroit News reported in February that federal corruption charges against Kilpatrick and his father were in the works.

Kilpatrick resigned from office and served 99 days in jail in 2008 and 2009 after pleading guilty to testifying falsely at a police whistle-blower trial. Part of his deal to avoid trial was a promise to pay the city $1 million in restitution or face more jail time. In May, Wayne Circuit Judge David Groner sentenced Kilpatrick to 18 months to five years in prison for probation violations after prosecutors presented evidence that Kilpatrick concealed assets that could have been put toward his restitution.

Kilpatrick is now in a state prison near Manistee. His father has been living in the home his son moved to in Southlake, Texas, when he left Detroit and took a sales job with Covisint, a division of Detroit-based Compuware. The former mayor lost that job as a result of his recent prison sentence.

A federal grand jury subpoenaed records and testimony related to possible abuses in fundraising and expenditures connected with the former mayor's nonprofit foundation, the Kilpatrick Civic Fund. Possible felony income tax violations also were being examined, people familiar with the investigation told The Detroit News.

The civic fund allegedly received large sums of money from contractors with City Hall business. Investigators have examined whether expenditures made by the fund -- created before Kilpatrick became mayor, when he was a state representative -- were consistent with its stated purposes of helping Detroit neighborhoods and promoting civic education.

U.S. Rep. Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick, D-Detroit, the mother of the former mayor and ex-wife of Bernard Kilpatrick, was twice subpoenaed to testify before the grand jury, first in March and again this month.

Depot Town Rally

For those that can't attend the MWT,

There is going to be a Rally in Depot Town in Ypsi this Saturday, June 26th from 12PM to midnight called The Ton-Up. Not sure what it means but they are having live music, pin up girl contest, vendors, bike show w/trophies.

This is the first year for this event and they are hoping for a good turn out. For those that have gone to Depot Town for years know it's a well balanced group that hang out down there. I'm going to go early in the afternoon to show my support and then off to some graduation parties.
