I don't know, that double poster/he-she you had on the 109 site is really frickin funny!!! Never lost to a V -while going 2up, never lost to a V-Max - again 2up, just because of his magical back tire!!! It's hilarious that even He believes it  :rofl2:

Oh hell...can we get a mod to somehow prevent LUX from seeing this thread?

Custom made pants, 109s, V's, this is just going to get out of hand. :angeldev:

You seem like an easy going fellow, so I'm going to ask a favor of you. Please use a little punctuation. It's really hard to read what you've written, and I really am interested in what you have to say. Thanks ever so much.

All this talk of engines and such. I've got no problem with M109 engine. I really don't care. It is the entire package of the M109 that just doesn't light my fire. To each his own, but sit a V-Rod of any model next to a M109 and you decide. No soul I tell you -- just no soul.

If a certain someone sees your reference to a "soul" they might have to close the thread! :D

40K+ members, 2 million posts,1.5 yrs later, I had to comment!

One of my lifelong friends rides a M109R, a 2009 with huge side pipe & PC tuner. Most of our riding is city and freeway cruising, but we do flush the engines from time to time!

He's not the type to back down from a challenge :duel: and he frequently challenges a younger guy that rides a Kaw ZX-10. I gotta say that our bikes are pretty even. I would think our rolling starts or 'punchin it' at speed gives the initiator (usually him) the advantage UNLESS I'm watching him and already hanging around at 5K rpm! Winding out to redline and the next gear is all I need to show him the V-Rod has what it takes to keep things interesting! I like how my little 1250 runs with the brutus 1800.

Shaggyhou's post (reply #40) pretty sums up my experience vs the 109, we don't really race but we know what eachother has and we pick our battles as we look at the road ahead...

I bought a new M109R and while I liked it it never really excited me the way I'd expected it too.
So after 18 months I sold it and went for a Roadliner/Stratoliner.
Did a few bolt ons and tune to it but while it would never be as quick in a straight line it would just walk away from any 109 in the twisty bits.
After 12 years of being the only non HD rider amongst my group of friends I sucumed to the pressure and bought my first HD.
Couldn't bring myself to buy an aircooled rattletrap so I now have a VRSCF Muscle. Great in a straight line (feels quicker than a 109 to me) but better in the curves (just crap as a 2 up bike)

Wished I'd kept the Roadliner for the days the missus wanted to come with me
Of the bikes I've owned in the last 10 years this is how I'd rate them (just my opinion not fact)
Muscle
Roadliner
Mean Streak (not that mean but a sweet bike nonetheless)
109R (quick , nice engine but too mutch plastic and driveline snatch)

Rattle trap Harley? You ain't pickin the engine fit for you.My 04 Heritage was smoother than either one of my Revo powered Harleys and the engine-trans assy was bolted solid to the frame!
I don't know about the RL and the top o the line Vulcan because it takes a lot to make the RL look and handle as good as the Vulcan and the Heritage Classic. If price wasn't a concern,I'd try a new loaded Vulcan over the Heritage, but as nice as the Heritage is and costing thousands less than the Kowy,I'll probably do another Softail over the others.
I will be buying a used cruiser this go around,no matter what brand.
I look at the big cruisers w the v-4's in them and imagine where the Nova engine might have gone if Harley would have kept both it,and the Evo.

Back to the 109.It's ugly, bulky, horrible looking,it's slow and it is very nasty to the human eye. It's not a very nice bike to look at either.
Anyone that thinks their 109 is fast, just ride around with me while I'm on a V-Rod,any V-Rod,but preferably mine, but I will out ride and go faster than any 109 ever could, including up against a pro rider,I'm that confident of myself and the VRSC line.I'll even do it on a mussel!
God those damned 109's are ugly!:barf: There outa be a bag made to cover the ugliness.

109 times and speeds

Last year I owned an 08 Suzuki 109. I did not take it to the track much because of fear of messing up the tranny, second gear is an issue on most of them. The few trips I made to the eighth mile track my best time was 7.51 at 92 mph. The bike will not 60 due to weight and the shaft with its gearing not being changeable. I bought an09 vrscaw and I made it into the 7.40's with the stock gearing. I have changed to the twenty six tooth pulley and have a best of 7.16 at 97. That best time was in great weather but I have several passes in the twenties and thirties, similiar weather to the 7.51 referred to above on the 109.

Funny how perceptions differ
I rode an 03 Heritage years ago and thought it quite nice
Yet one mate has a 04 Softail Deuce and due to a smashed left foot (MC accident at 17) I can't stay on it for more than half an hour as the vibrations through the foot peg really started to hurt.
Rode a rental 2010 Road Glide around 3000 miles to Sturgis this year and that is better with less vibration but it was the bike I was thinking of when I made the rattle trap comment...it was horrible and made the Vrod feel like a Rolls Royce by comparison :)

Each to his own I guess.I loved mine.Got it specifically so my wife could cruise around w me.She sat on it with me for about 20,000 miles. After the vascular bypass in her leg,she wasn't comfortable anymore. At around 25,000,the bearings in the cam plate took a shit.I had the 96ci plate and cams installed because the cams run in the raw aluminum plate without bearings. They changed to this because of the inaccurate machining, causing the outer roller bearings in the plate to eat themselves for lunch.I had a 5HD5 bike and the 1HD1 96ci cams were horrible. At slow speeds,I was constantly hunting between 4th and 5th.I got used to it,but the bike never fealt the same, and I couldn't afford to buy cams, the EX warranty covered the parts and labor. From that,my wifes leg and I needed money,I wholesaled the bike back to the the dealer.
I had it for sale, but no offers were over 5 stacks,I wanted close to 13 stacks, got 9 stacks at the dealer which was half a stack over wholesale.
I almost bought a Kowy over that bike and I am so glad I didn't.I loved that bike.It was loud as hell and sounded great, got 45mpg,was smooth as glas w the B engine,as nimble to handle as a bicycle, unlike a VRSC,but then that's apples and apricots again.Other than a few trinkets, bolt covers, and foot passenger foot boards painted to match, the exhaust was the only major mod it needed.

This is why I kept my B and bought an 08 Ultra Classic for the squeeze to do her passenger thing on. I just have to now take the B back to the stock passenger pillion. The Ultra is as smooth as glass while you're underway and is a pleasure to ride. Of course it looks like it is going to jump out of it's skin at idle.

All i will say is lets line that shit up against the all mighty "lil 1130" and lets see what happens. Serioulsly anyone in the Milw area that owns a 109 or whatever they call'em lets get it on. japan your new Prototype has arrived!! Lets put this to rest. I'm here.
Damn if I was closer I'd run you with eaither of mine my 13 is mostly stock other than exaust intake and tuner.but my 2009 is built big air kit and higher end Pistons and shit with a big ole spooley hanging off lol.
