After seven years of legal hassel, Harley has won back the name Autoglide from Ridley. Now that Harley own's the name, what will they do with it?

An easy and excellent mod that works well is to install a centrifugal racing clutch that turns the bike into a semi auto. You still have to shift, but the clutch becomes redundant. The clutch pressure is reduced to near zero, and since most of us just shift without the clutch, no big deal. The benefits - no stalling, slipper clutch control, faster shifting, more speed, better fuel mileage. Downside, haven't found any yet. Installed in the Vrod, there is no clutch at all, just shift and go. Installed in the air units, one finger clutch or no clutch, no stall and go.

Look for Harley bagger autoglides in the near future.

how's Honda's DX-01 sales coming? isn't that an auto shifting Motorcycle?

there's a market for Hondamatics and such, but I think it's a very small market

There's been a few over the years - Guzzi , Honda , Yamaha etc and yet no one buys them because people like to be in total control of their motorcycles.
Another factor is the price premium - if they made the semi auto's / auto's way cheaper than the manual equivalent then they might start to shift a few units , but it's not going to happen.

Harley has a lot of lawyers they have to keep busy. So they are protecting as many words as they can - you will recall they even tried to protect the sound. A small after market dealer here used the name Eagle Iron and Harley went after them and won even though their brand of parts was Iron Eagle - and when was the last time you saw that brand on the dealers shelf? I may have Iron and Eagle backward but you get the point.

DN01 is a a fully automatic- overpriced in US so sales are down. Dropped the price in Europe and sales have taken off. Honda 1200VFR is a semi dual clutch, appears to be moving well. Aprillia 850 GT mana doing well in Europe, semi auto shift mode, or fully auto.

I am putting a copyright on the english language, OK everybody pay up.

The new Honda VFR1200 has the dual clutch system. You can either shift manually, fully automatic or using paddle shift only. Doesn't add that much to the price tag overall.

Ridley Auto Glide

Hey MOCO lawyer's---Instead of going after the little merchants
that dare to use the name "Eagle Iron" or "Glide" in their advertising or in their name....Here's a couple of big name's for your lawyers
to go after:

Power " Glide"- General Motors (ooops!Government Motors) they used
that "Glide" name on a transmisssion in the 50's that is still used in racing.

Dyna "Glide" - Chrysler (ooops! Government Motors as well) they used that name on their transmisssions as well. Oh yeah they used
that word "Dyna" too so you got a double hit on your precious name
there

Oh and last but not least:

101st Air Assault Divn: They're unit patch is a Screaming Eagle

Go on MOCO sue them....I'm sure they would be happy to kick
your a--!

Keep buying those $35.00 Chinese T shirts it keeps the lawyers
paid in MOCO...."Lawyer-up" MOCO I'm sure the 101st will be
happy to hear from you....www.101stscreamingeagles.com

After much research on subject:

Chrysler had a Fluid Drive transmisssion but

Buick had a DYNA Flow trans so you MOCO lawyers get to double
up on Government Motors i.e GMC

Also trying to patent the sound of a 1935Vtwin engine is like applying
for a patent on the oxygen we breathe....You '"suits and corp types
are a real Hoot!

Why don't you try the Screaming Eagles too I'm sure they will
tell you about your copyright infringement on their name. But
of course they would not do that as they have Character! Which
obviously MOCO does not have....
