I am going to install the Vance & Hines Slip-Ons and a K&N filter.

My question is what changes will need to be done to the ECM for these mods?

I was @ a V&H shop in Whittier Ca. and they told me if I were to go with that setup to wait on a programmer,it might not need anything, sounds kinda fishy to me!He also told me they are having a deceleration backfire issue on there 2into1 exhaust.I would say go ahead and install and see how it runs,if anything call them this week!

I have my pipes on order. They are on back order and it will be a couple more weeks before they come in. I am going to order the filter today and I also plan on taking the top off of the air box.

I do not mind getting a programmer at all. Which one is the best to go with for the 09 models?

I went with SE race tuner because my dealer would void the warrantee if I used any other programmer ... guyz here are very happy with the power commander though.

Do they void the warranty if they see the tuner on the bike or does the ECM have a way of recording that a Power Commander was attached?

I plan on doing all of my own service so I would only need to go in the dealer shop if there was a problem.

Thats the feedback I got from my stealer, I would recommend you check with your stealer before you decide to go with the race tuner or the Power commander.

there are plenty of dealers that install and service powercommanders. they all do what they feel like, it's insane. and, they cannot void your warranty completely, by law. they can refuse warranty coverage on things that fail directly because of aftermarket parts you installed, but not for the bike as a whole.

I HAVE WHAT YOUR DOING OTHER THEN THE PROGRAMER ON MY MUSCLE...MINE HAS A LEAN MISS AS BEFORE THE MODS IN 3RD AND 4TH (AROUND 35-45MPH)AS HARLEY TESTS EPA STANDARDS IN THOSE GEARS AT THAT RPM.(I CALLED)...THE BIKE PULLS GREAT UP TO 9 GRAND AS BEFORE I DID THE MODS. I'D LIKE TO THINK THE ECM CAN MAKE SMALL CHANGES IN THE A/F RATIO AS THESE MODS ONLY GIVE SMALL GAINS...NOW WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IS HAS ANYONE DID DYNO PULLS ON A STOCK ONE THEN AGAIN WITH SLIP ON'S/AIR FILTER (BECAUSE THATS WHAT MOST OF US DO)THEN AGAIN WITH A PROGRAMER SO WE CAN SEE JUST HOW LEAN IT WAS (ITS NOT A CRIME TO BE A LITTLE LEAN) AND HOW MUCH GAIN THE PROGRAMER GAVE US FOR 4-5 HUNDRED BUCKS ! ?

Well. I canceled my order for the V&H's. They have been on 300+ back order for 3 weeks and they told me they will only supply Drag Specialties with pipes first and once they no longer have back orders then they will ship to everyone else.

Screw that. They need to fill orders as they receive. Drag Specialties sells them for MSRP and I am sure that is why.

I called up Tab and they told me that they knew of one of their vendors that had 3 sets last week and told me kit would be worth a call to see. So I called and they had one set left in stock and they will be here Friday over $200 less and when I called Fuel Moto they said the Tabs produced better numbers on their Dyno. So I had them send me a PCV and a K&N since they had the best price around on both items.

I am getting a map from them for my Tab Slip-on's, a K&N filter, and a topless Airbox that they have made on their Dyno.

I'm excited to get all of this installed and see how it rides.

I have had it a little over 3 weeks and I have 800miles on it and loving this bike so far. :biker:

Pcv

Careful no one had maps for PCV and the dealer didn't even have the new software for the dyno set up he assumed the PCIII set up would work.

I opted to not be a guinee pig and go with the SE Race Tuner and after 500 miles I just had it put on the dyno the performance is smooth and the air/fuel mix is almost flawless no back fire sweet sound very responsive I am very happy with the set up if I figure out how to get the map from the tuner I will gladly post it.

I am running...

Tab pipes
K&N Air Filter
SE Tuner

is there a full exhaust system for the muscle that does not eliminate the dual exhausts and if so where can i see them and buy them like yesterday...please help.

p.s. i would like to change grips, foot controls and pegs..any advice

I believe at this time no one is making a true 2-2 pipe for the F yet. You can get some pretty awesome grips and pegs at HD, I got the flame pegs right now and im going with the flame grips as well.

Where did you get the topless airbox?? Did you get your bike dynoed? How do you like it so far?

Hey Rob,

Just dyno'ed my bike yesterday at TSI HD with a very similar set up with good results.

TAB pipes, TAB fuel programmer, topless with a K&N, 1700 miles on her now.

113.10 HP / 82.27 FT-LB at the rear tire. She sounds and pulls nice through all the the gears!:D

I see your in Wilbraham, I live in Ellington Ct. Lets get a ride in sometime... nice country out your way.

I honestly think your #'s should be better than that. Stock bikes can dyno @ about those #'s sometimes. And definietly get that out of 1130's with a pipe, tuner, and air cleaner. You have the bigger motor, new oil pump(adds about 3hp) and so on. You should be doing better.

Says on the box about the SERT. Other deales say it will void warranty. Remember folks they are selling products here so they will tell you alot.

Sounds good to me~! my email is imdr911@hotmail.com
where can i get an open airbox? I have a tab on order. did you check out any others?
I heard that tab had the best numbers on the dyno! I want to keep the dual exhaust.
jsut take the top of the airbox off and it's open

not bad..

as you know, each dyno is different. I have seen them vary as much as 12 hp. It does seem a bit low. I saw a guy on the site with that set up dyno at 120+ at the rear wheel. Hmmm. My dealer says he can get about 130 out of it with the dyno tune. That was a 2 into one pipe. I hope he can get close with the slip on tab. I like the look and sound.
