Being 6-4 with abnormally long arms, I ended up ordering VRSCX bars for my DX today.

Are there any surprises I should know about before pulling the old bars? (aside from the usual throttle cable retainers wanting to fly out, etc)

Until this year, all my experience has been with sport bikes and Softails. The V-rod front end is a little different----bars going through the dash, etc.

Thanks in advance!!!

I just installed the X bars on my DX. No surprises at all. You'll have to loosen your headlight nacelle and turn the light out to reach the necessary bolts to remove your guages. The only thing that will need to be adjusted are the lines coming out of the Brake Master and Clutch Master cylinders. Because the bars are straight across, you'll need to loosen the bolts on the cylindars and turn the elbow joint towards the back of the bike, just a slight bit. A warning in advance, have a towel ready underneath the bolt when you loosen it. A little fluid will come out. Don't over loosen it though, you'll dump the whole thing. Should any fluid come out and get on the paint, clean it immediately. It will cloud your paint. Shouldn't take more than 30 minutes to get it all done.
