During lunch today on our Sunday ride, a few of us start talking about how much we have to pay our state/county for registration and other fees to keep our rides on the street. Sometimes it feels like they are trying to bleed us to death. Here in Hawaii we pay (for a Vrod) $127.63 for state & county fees. Add another $25 if you have a custom plate. We also have to have a yearly safety check done adding another $17.50. That comes to between $145.13 and $170.13 to keep our bikes on the road for a year. This does not include insurance too.

What are you guys paying in your states?

Massachusetts vanity plate $90
City excise $490
State inspection $15

Though on a new bike excise tax is steep, $25 per thousand dollars on bikes sold value from the p&s agreement. This calculation drops yearly by depreciating the bike value 20% point until only 20% is left then it stays that rate as long as you own the bike with an active registration.

My new 2019 street glides prorated bill just came in for when I purchased on 4/1, $490 in four more years the cost will drop to $125

Ohio is 48.00 for initial registration and new plate then 28.00 annually for duration of bike registration. Vanity plates approximately 30.00 annually.
NO state inspection on bikes or autos!

Super rip off !

Central Florida Motorcycle Vanity Plate - Just $ 36.60 + $ 3.00 County fee = $ 39.60. No Inspections or fees, and no Excise Tax ( Another reason why I'm no longer living in Mass - aka Taxachusetts ) - $ 490 ? :banghead: GEEZ Noel that's highway robbery ! First year with more to come every year after that ? Doesn't the TaxmanHog get a free pass now that your'e retired ? Please explain if you would excise tax (residual value tax) to the guys here and why it's even justified for government to collect it - What a rip off, even super expensive Hawaii is much less and you don't hear that very often mike_w !! :blahblah: :D

Our state also talked about adding a mileage fee too. That was on top of the taxes that we pay per gallon of gas also. It got shot down (for now).

$23 in even-numbered years (2-year registration).

But that might change given what I just heard about the new budget being passed. I guess we'll see...
