That's interesting Boston RB - it looks like the same mounts as my H-D OEM mid sport windshield but with a different transparency. Did the one you missed buying have the same fly screen shape and size as that photo ? I've never seen one sold by H-D quite like that so it might be a custom made one ? - there's a guy here in FL that does custom shields but you may have someone local you could contact, get the stock H-D W/S mounts to install and have him bend you one up. There may be other mount kits that would work as well with a current production fly screen that's easily available - you could buy & combine to get what you want. That looks real cool but honestly not much protection - if you can stand to go a bit taller the H-D OEM mid sport works very well on my R and I've seen them on e bay from time to time, option 2 -

My experience with similar screens is they put the wind and noise right in your face. To work, they need to be taller and make use of deflectors on the forks also. So much air comes up at the fork/front of air box, buffeting is the result. The benefits of fork deflectors is huge if you want smooth air but unless you custom make them, none are available that I know of for the v rods.

Yea Ron, those small fly screen ones are more of a form over function thing. I've had the OEM H-D mid sport W/S into the mid 130's mph range with no problems, it's very effective even without side deflectors & provides great protection - the touring w/s is taller and wider but I don't know how it handles at high speed or in crosswinds and don't think I'd push it that fast but I've got the turn signal relocation mounting kit if I slow down as I get older standing by - and I'm getting older everyday 😥 - may end up like my bud he custom made 4 wind deflectors like the Gold Wing guys use and swears by them -

I'm sure either would work and both are very cool but the first clear one looks like it fits the R perfect, and I like the fact you can see the gauge cluster etc. behind it - I'll keep my eyes open for that H-D V Rod Sport Wind Deflector Unicorn for ya Boston RB - best of luck !

Why would I do that? SMH. I would simply like to have all the options available still that have since become unicorns or searches for holy grails. And more importantly 15 plus more years of riding on my R.

I figured I give it a shot. It's the first wind deflector / windshield that fits the R and doesn't look ugly in my opinion.

Interest is still there with the Euro market making awesome mod parts for our bikes. HD and the American aftermarket not so much.

First thing I did after acquiring my V-Rod is ditch that windscreen. It doesn't work. I still have it in a box in the garage.
