Hi Alan, what is the problem? If the gauge works intermittently you might need to clean the resistor strip in the tank, sorted mine with some carb cleaner, you have to take the fuel assembly out though.

i have ran a little seafoam every tank full it seems to work to keep it happy. common problem

Techron fuel additive will eventually clean the strip and it should work.

Harley Davidson Fuel Sending Units – Tri-Starr Radiator

It will take a long time before any of the pour in fixes do anything. If they ever do. If you are the tinkering type. It is very easy to remove and clean the strip on the sending unit that causes some of the problems. It will not fix them all. If you are not the tinkering type. Try these guys. They can fix it

I tried Seafoam. Poured it on in the fall and left it in the tank through the winter. It didn't help...

Always have Seafoam on hand, and purchase Techron when it's on sale to treat my engines. Not sure that Briggs is the best for testing but you can see differences. As stated, using something is better than nothing.

Basically I give mine a treat of MMO every now and then. Old aviation trick to prevent valve sticking. Had some laying around from my flying days.

Years ago when I had my softail and belonged to another forum, this bad gas, here and there kept coming up. In this day and age, how's that even possible?

So I’m guessing the instructions say full bottle with 12 gallon fuel so half a bottle for Vrod .
