Looking for something to mount my phone to the handlebars for maps and such. Any suggestion would be great. I would rather it be as small as possible.

I use the ram mount x-grip. It's not exactly small but I've been well into triple digits and my phone didn't budge.

I did order a shorter arm for it that what comes from RAM.

I can second the x grip not entirely the smallest thing but if u get the switch mount and the short arm I think u will be happy. Been using one for years used it on a r1200, then a spyder and now on Night Rod. I will say with the vibration on the rod I do find myself using the rubber band as well just for peace of mind, but thing ain't going nowhere.

First the rubber harness required for a full hold on the phone was more work than I wanted and looked ugly when no phone was in the mount. The second was that the X-Grip always hit my volume and/or power button on my iPhone X and previous iphone 7 plus. The third thing was that I couldnt quicky take my phone out and put back in with one hand, especially when using the rubber harness.
So, I switched to the Quad Lock, which resolved the above issues. If you decide to go that route, they have a referral program, where you’ll get 10% off your order and I’ll get 5%. This is the referral link they sent me after my first order with them: http://quadlock.refr.cc/JFWK7LB

Can you show me which quad lock you bought? The VRod Muscle bars are bigger than what they say it will fit.

Since I already had the ram mount, I bought the quad lock 1” ball mount to fit into my ram mount already on the handlebars.

Here’s the ram mount piece:

I use sp moto mount. Small and strong locking mechanism. You will need to buy mount for handle bars and one for phone if you have iPhone Samsung or you can buy in kit form.

I bought the Ram mount handle bar base that fixes to the left or right instrument controls with 2 balls 1 for the phone and 1 for the powervision. To be honest the setup was nice and sturdy but it was so big and came out too much for my liking. I then ordered the Ram Mount M8 handlebar ball, when it arrived none of the screws fit into the ball as they were too big, so I used one of the screws from the double mount I bought and it worked perfectly!
I attached some images so you can see it.

Part numbers if interested (need smaller diameter and shorter bolt to fit it where I did, the ones that come with it don’t work)

Personally I just put my phone in my jacket pocket. Most of the time I'll also shut it off and maybe I check it when I get where I'm going. No need to be connected 100% of the time. Enjoy the ride.

What ever happened to just going for a ride and not caring if you get lost. I still do that. Ok many time I have been told to get lost. Ialmost got hooked into buying some stuff to mount my phone on my bike. Then I stopped and thought. I have been on this think for 10 plus years with no navigation. Why do I need it now. I have also been riding for about 30 years and no music so that is not a reason. Watching porn while ridding might not be a good idea. So i just keep my phone in my pocket and have been known to leave it in clear view on the table.

Funny story, I want into a gas station store and asked where something was. The guy behind the counter pulls out his phone, the dude behind me in line pulls his out and some old lady just explains to me how to get there. I smiled all the way there.
