cheers mate.

Putting it in for a 1 year service, need stem nut doing and I have a problem with a loose headlight, shakes all over the place. Someone on here sent me a diagram of the 4 attachment points which come loose/detach, but I cannot find that post anywhere?

Peter

That is not strictly true, though you would hope it ia as you would think.

One dealership told me that it was the date that it was imported into the country.

%&ÂŁ*&ers.
No, it's true, 2 years from 1st registration and if you have the right dealer they will go beyond that. To be honest, latent or manufacturing defects like the stem nut you have the right to go after the dealer for 6 years from the time of sale.

I can hold it in no longer........

F%^&$*ING Dockgate are now renegading on the warranty work saying that it is too far out of warranty, even though they agreed to the work.

1. The work was agreed, and I was told no hurry we will do it over the winter. (October '08)
2. A date was later arranged, and they began work, then found the new clutch housing was in worse shape than the one on there, so work stopped to await new parts. I got the bike back - 3 hours wasted.
3. Pointed out that the swingarm was bubbling. They would ask HD UK for an out of warranty.
4. Swing arm agreed.
5. A few weeks later I went back and then ordered some pivot arm covers, and agreed we would await the parts as the swingarm was up for a respray.
6. Swing arm pivot covers came in.
7. Jan/Feb kept leaving messages for Ben in servicing to call me, as he was always on phone/with customer/etc etc.
8. Finally got hold of Hanna and found Ben was now in Sales.
Was then informed that 'cos it was so long since the warranty the trees and clutch cylinder were no longer covered, even though the parts were on the shelf for it.
They would need agreement form HD UK to do an out of warranty.
The swingarm was still covered as it is an out of warranty anyway.
9. 4 weeks 1 day later and I am still awaiting to find out if the will cover the parts.
I have rung and been told, "Oh yeah I will chase Harley".

Pissed off does not even begin to encompass how mad I am, and have been for the last 4 weeks.
I can honestly say I will never deal with another 'kin HD dealership again. They are a bunch of lying theiving f*&%ing.......
AARGGGHGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

Thing is I need to pop in to get my covers, which they have probably sold, and I am not sure I can find the receipt.
Mayb's I will get Chewey to pick them up for me.
Either that or I am gonna going there and cause such a riot, I will probably be banned anyway.

And, I understand Chewey had to have words last time he was in there.
And, "The Chosen One" sold his DX because of the treatment he had from Dockgate.

Yes had loud words in earshot of julian (boss man) and even louder words to ben with new/existing customers present., 3rd atempt at getting my tractor glide right after previously leaving it with them for a week. they were told fix it this time or it goes somewhere else at there expense. they took it to myers just down the road for about 5 hours. its not exactly stock but i expect it to start when its hot. as an after thought and not there fault but on saturday its the 5 month aniversary of ordering a replacement heat shield for my r/h/s big shot in black....well done Vance and Hines!!!!mrs chewey thinks the glide will be gone before it arrives

Always being one to report on positive stuff too, I went in to Dockgate yesterday and spat the dummy.

The result is they will undertake the warranty work and deal with any reprecussions with HD if they occur.
So, the bike goes in next Saturday for a week.
I will get the 10,000 mile service, and probably get them to run it up to Mayors to get it dyno'd too.

Met another Pompie DX rider too.

Sean,

My bike is older than yours and it's just gone in for the remaining warranty work on Wednesday as well as taking remaining parts off to be painted by Mac's shop.

Fuel sender, upper belt guard, new speedo and others.

I've said this before, USE the Foundry, they collected my bikes for ÂŁ45 return, i'm sure they would do something for you if your're flexible. They're not perfect but they've not refused ANY warranty claim and they do put right any mistakes without question or complaint.

Heard good things about the Foundry, but can you get them to do warranty work if they werent the dealer who sold the bike? (I realise the warranty is with HD and not the dealer, but not sure who is the point of contact)
Mine has just gone over 5K and I want the typical things done too:
Fuel sender
Slider paint
Triple tree paint
Stem nut
Small crack on valve cover
(not sure about this, but one of my indicator light covers fell of - they are loose as buggery)
Header heat shielding is a light grey not black anymore.

Yep, warranty work can be done my any dealer. Dave in service down there is a good guy and put warranty work on parts I never bought from them either. If you let him know I recommended them you'll get much worse service ;)
