A lot of the "Busa Boys at the track use a two step box to get their launch rpm consistent. Has anyone experimented with a two step for the V-Rod? I've looked around and no manufactures I've found make one.

For those new to drag racing a two step stutters the ignition to hold the rpm at a pre-set limit and is usually controlled by a clutch switch. Clutch in, you're at launch rpm, clutch out and you're at WOT. You can tell somebody's running one because the bike makes a popping sound when the two step is working.

FUNNY YOU SHOULD MENTION THE BUSA CAUSE WE USE A NEXT LEVEL RACING TWO STEP MADE FOR THE BUSA.THE ONLY 2 STEP I COULD FIND THAT WOULD WORK ON A COIL ON TOP OF THE PLUG.YOU'LL HAVE TO GROUND THE EXTRA COIL LEADS. NLR PHONE 205-329-8391 :sinister:

I called Dynatek thinking that they would have something since they carry an extensive line of drag racing products for HD, but no V-Rod.

Rick, thanks for the tip, I'll look them up. What has been your experience using the two step? They sound awful, any problems with engine wear?

THE NLR 2 STEP IS A SOFT HIT 2 STEP USING A RISK CONTROLED ING.BOX
AND A CPU BOX STATE OF THE ART IMHO.DOES NOT HURT THE ENGINE AS
IT CONTROLS THE COILS AND WILL NOT THROW A CODE TO THE VROD ECM.
I'AM NOT AWARE OF ANY 2 STEP THAT WILL WORK ON THE VROD LIKE THE
NLR. THEY WERE GREAT TO WORK WITH AS WE WHERE THE FIRST TO ADAPT
THERE UNIT TO A VROD.

I just raced a Harley with one...so there is one for a HOG somewhere. Next time I race I will find out more...didn't know it was unusual.
THE VROD IS THE ONLY HARLEY THAT HAS COILS ON TOP OF THE SPARK PLUGS
SEVERAL COMPANYS MAKE THEM FOR TRATIONAL HARLEYS NO ONE MAKES ONE
SPECIFICALLY FOR THE VROD SO WE ADAPTED WHAT WORKS ON OTHER BRANDS.ITS NOT THAT DIFFICULT CALL THEM BUY THERE PRODUCT AND MOVE ON TO THE NEXT ISSUE,KINDA SIMPLE IF YOU ASK ME

Rick,I have a nlr kill box on my Busa and was thinking about putting a system on the V rod.Could you tell me which wires off the coil are the neg to connect to?Also just ground the extra two wires?Could you tap into the coil neg at the ecu easier?
I'm also talking with another local company that is making digital kill boxes for Coil on top systems. They only have one wire for all coils that in line with the positive feed. All systems I've ever seen use the neg wires.Do you think it will work with the single positive and if so why don't other brands do this simpler method?
Thanks :mrgr:

Anyone remember which color wire you connected the kill box to the coils? :)
Is it the same one we use for torque on the dyno?
I want to get this hooked up next week for the next race and hopefully join the 9 sec club :)
