I've spent a couple of hours searching through all of the windshield topics on here. I'm looking to buy a windshield for my VRSCAW. Since I won't be using it all of the time, I'd like something that's completely detachable (and easy to do). I thought the only option was the HD Ultimate Touring Windshield. However, I saw that they also sell a smaller HD Touring Windshield that has the same 4-clip release. Does anyone have one of these smaller ones? How well do they work compared to the Ultimate? Thanks.

I think a lot has to do with how tall you are. I'm over 6' and have the touring shield. It does little to keep the wind out of my face but a lot to keep it off my chest.

I'm not sure how to tell other than the Ultimate is taller (and I believe wider). A local dealer has the smaller version and i'm going to take a look at it later today. It's such a fine line between looks and usefulness...sgtrage said:

What's the height/width difference between those two? Anyone know?
Well I have an Ultimate Touring quick release and love the Q.R. function but not so much the look on such a sport cruiser so I orderd a tinted windvest for my B because it looked sporty and maybe could be left mounted. I mounted the windvest a week ago and I am still adjusting it trying to work out the sunglass wobble that I don't get with the Ultimate. I may be keeping my Ultimate after all.... and I am 5' 9" with a sundowner seat.

Are you guys looking through or over the windshield with the ultimates and touring models? I just went in and saw one of the touring windshields at the dealer and they're 22in high off of the headlight. Anyone happen to have a picture of their bike with it on? Thanks.

Yea, I just got back from the Harley Dealer. I looked at the Touring Windshield and it's pretty large...I couldn't imagine the Ultimate. Now i'm going back and forth between the Supersport and Touring. Most of my riding is to/from school and then cruising around on short rides after class although we do some longer rides as well. Such a tough decision...i think i've read every windshield thread on here 3 times.
Boiler I agree with Kev. I have heard too many negatives on the sport. Take a look at the wind vest in my gallery. It has a reverse curve at the top that throws the air upward. Depending on how tall you are and how you sit in the seat the 18" windvest may work for you. It definately helps and doesn't look bad. They run about $340.

I have the touring windshield, but I added a Laminar Lip - check out my gallery. I am 6'-1", so the lip gave me a bit more coverage, and it kicks the air up below 70 mph.
I have a touring windshield but will trade to an ultimate when the opportunity arises.
