I am currently running a 03 bike with a Stage 1 dealer installed kit, SE slip ons ,filter and ECM mod.

Can I run topless without further fuel compensation ?

Yes
Thanks,

I know the question has probably been asked a thousand times but I am cautious about running too Lean.

Bike is running well at the moment but always looking for a bit more!
There are several different flashes from HD, it seems a revised flash allowed for topless running while the original flash would probably be a little on the lean side. It would be best to check with the dealer to determine the flash that you have and then post that.

According to the EFI Performance Calibration Information chart, either stage 1 calibrations (32026-02, 32026-02A) can be ran topless.
I was basing it from imformation that Rick Nielson had posted that I may have misunderstood. I thought he had stated that the revised updates were for running topless. I know that even in the RT files they don't specify topless.

I'm living a lie. Kind of anyway.

Kaz will call me names and use the :chair: and the :spank: thingys but I have to go back on my words somewhere and here seems just fine.

After some time now running topless :boobs: I have to say I hate the clickity sound, not so much induction noise, it's that NOISE you can almost not hear that resonates inside your head at stoplights and when the bike is at idle. I could live with it! I choose not to and am doing some kind of top mod like John and Mark did.

I know, I know :whack: . What can I say  ?
eduarprmd your not alone, I put my top back on and cut the front just because of the noise.

What a Bunch of Sissies!Get some Ear Plugs! ;)
Been running topless for a couple of months now, don't even notice it any more!!!!!!!
Will go topless. Ear damage probably already done!!
Last bike Ducati 996- 50mm straight through system, JHP induction kit.
eduarprmd, max, have you tried removing the retaining clips? I havent "officially" gone topless yet, just a test run in the garage since I still have the stock ecm setting, but I did notice the clips vibrating quite a bit when the rpms would go up. I know one of the other members removed the clips and got rid of that rattling sound.

Max, did I see you post a pic of a top with lots of holes drilled through? How was that one for noise and flowthrough comparted to removing the front?
Greg... if you run topless lose the clips, they are easy to remove.
Greg687 yes as VrodG stated the clips push down and pop right off. The noise that bothers me is hearing the valves and induction noise. I seem to get very similar performance with the front open with no extra noise.

I have been thinking about both... might look for a top on ebay I can experiment with

I've found that gas mileage is a lot more sensitive to throttle position with the top off. I am assuming, therefore, that when wide open, this sucker can really dispose of fuel. It seems to be faster in the mid range as well (and thats all that really matters, no?) . But around town, where the opportunity to squeeze the throttle is more frequent, I got a tankfull below 25 mpg recently. But on long hiway trips, at constant throttle, gas mileage is just fine (in fact, I set a new high at 43 mpg for a tank).
Also with the full face helmet, I don't notice the high frequency noises, but there is a low freq that is really nice, on full throttle at about 5k rpm.
Sissi :moon: ? And just the ;) . Something is missing here  .

It's the clickity thing at low rpms that bothers me, it is not loud at all. Still earplugs don't help. Everything else just fine. Makes me feel like in a VW Beetle or something. AND I'm serious when I say it seems to get in your head. Disruptive to my cell structure I guess  . True also that none I've been with have ever mentioned noticing it being weird or anything but I may try my "100th anniv" cute knife (ah, the wife) on the "100th anniv" plastic.

Hey! Does anyone know if those breathless side cover things do anything in terms of benefit at all? :hyper:

Next thing? The reflectors. :spank: :chair: I love this little devils.
