You might want to take a look at the new DX to see what Harley put there. From what I know you can retrofit the mid pegs to the DX as a simple bolt on so they must have something covering that area.

I am going to see if a heat shield of a "b" will fit. Ask stealer to look up part number. Take a set of calipers with you and measure screw locations. In looking at pics close up it looks like it will fit.

Forward Control Relocation

Good to hear you can put mid pegs on. I have a 07 DX and the forward controls are a stretch for my short stubby legs. Nice to have a second riding position. Any ideas on the "kit" HD has for moving controls up 1" and back ?

Get all the parts from Zannoti and get the 20% off. I think my conversion was around $469 with the standard polished levers and not the chrome ones. I think it adds about $100 to the total if you get the chrome controls.

My reduced reach control kit, 50360-04 KIT REDUCED REACHVROD 1 $228.04, from Surdyke Harley was relativley cheap. My reduced reach handlebar and associated parts are on the way to go with it. I love my DX but, riding around like the hunchback of Notre Dame is too hard on this 42 yr old body. I ride with a bunch of geezer glides and it's nothing for us to ride 350 miles on any given Sunday.

I just painted it. Is this piece a part of the frame, or is there a bolt somewhere behind it?

Thanks for the info. How much farther back does the kit move the controls back? I looking into a handlebar fix as well. Do you have the part numbers for them as well?

Thanks in advance.

Harley says the foward controls kit (FC kit) will move them back 1 inch. I figure between the FC kit and the reduced reach handle bars I should be pretty comfortable. the rest of what I oredered is below. detachable bags are next, I'm still working on how deal with the bracket issue.
50360-04 KIT REDUCED REACHVROD 1 $228.04
38739-04 KIT HYDRAULIC CLUTCH LINE BRAIDED 1 $72.98
44909-05 KIT BRAKELINE FOR 5615004 1 $72.98
56150-04 REDUCED REACH HANDLEBARVRSCB 1 $39.96
51220-07 KIT BASEPLATE BLACK 240MM 1 $131.25
51780-07 TOURING PILLIONVRSC 1 $80.00
51783-07 BACKREST PADTOURINGVRSC 1 $63.96
51313-07 KIT UPRIGHT LOW SISSYBAR BLACK 1 $48.69
Sub-Total:$737.85
Shipping:$44.27
Tax:$0.00
Total: $782.12

My goal going into this project was to build myself a liquid cooled Harley cruiser with a fat ass tire so I could ride without being sore and at the same time have a little fun in the twisties. the platform is awesome, just needing to tweak it a bit.

Almost forgot, I haven't decided on throttle cables yet, but I am relocating the turn signals. When i oreder the cables I'll pass that along as well.
