Hi,

I'm relatively new, but have been LOVING riding my vrod. I am 6'6" and 260lbs. and have purchased the tallboy seat for the vrod but was also looking into buying some kind of reach extender kit for the controls (shifter/brake, pegs). I know v-mod makes a set that extends the controls forward 2" and
1" up to maintain lean angle capabilities with the controls extended. I also know Kuryakan makes one, and I have seen some at Hogpro.com as well. I have also read about the flipped reduced reach pegs people are using here.

My question is this: Which ones of these do people think are the best for a VERY tall rider? Do they all extend the pegs and shifter/brake the same distance, or do they vary? Which ones are the nicest in your opinion...

Please feel free to share opinions or ideas! Any input is appreciated as the price difference between some of the sets is pretty large.

Here's the links to what I am referring to:

V-MOD forward controls:

HogPro extended controls:

Harley Reduced Reach to be Flipped:

Thanks a bunch!

I also went with the reduced reach turned backwards. I can tell you I sat on VrodG's bike and the controls he has are really nice. For me it was a cost thing but I really like my reduce reach turned backwards compared to stock.

Arlen Ness makes a set also...I'll be putting those on this weekend.

Thanks for the responses guys...I appreciate it..unfortunately vrodg I dont speak German so I had a hard time understanding that page.

So do the reduced reach pegs just move the pegs then, and not the brake/shifter? Doesn't that put the brake/shifter in an awkward location at that point?

The Arlen Ness kit, are you referring to this one?

http://shop.arlenness.com/store/productdetail.asp+SID+1+Category_ID+54+Product_ID+1371

Or this one?

http://shop.arlenness.com/store/productdetail.asp+SID+1+Category_ID+54+Product_ID+6885

Big price difference there...400 vs. 1000. Whew!

Any more comments?

Thanks!

What dictates, "tall rider"? I am only 5' 10" and I would still like the controls about 1 to 2 inches forward. I find myself putting my ankles over the pegs on longer rides to stretch my legs out otherwise my inner thighs and calves feel like they are gonna seize up.

Ok, now I"m still wondering the answer to a question asked earlier. If you add the backward reduced reach pegs - can you just adjust the stock brake and shifter linkages to get the proper fit?

Vesteroid,

I think your right about the controls from HogPro I didn't look closely enough at them.

The Arlen Ness controls are certainly my favorite of the bunch. They look prettier than the V-mod ones and cost about $30 less. Plus I think they are
3" forward rather than 2" as v-mods are. An even better reason for myself to get them at 6'6". I'll have to save up for this one!

Thanks all..
