Looking to purchase a storage and workstation stand. H-D has one for $300 but was wondering if anyone knows of a comparable or better set-up for the same or lower price? :broke:

I think he's talking about motorcycle dollies:

The K&L one is much better made (and priced accordingly). The HF item has a few design flaws: e.g., the support pieces are angled in so the frame tubes don't rest on a flat surface. I do know a buddy who stores his Street Glide on one of the HF dollies (he's using thicker padding on the supports) and he says it works fine.

Yes the 550 Multi-Lift type.

I thought you were asking about storage lifts. The K&L MC550 is very well made but these aren't the best for storage. It extends out beyond the bike and only the rear set of casters swivel so they're not very maneuverable. The MC460 dolly is a lot better for storage (of course you need a lift like the MC550 to get the bike on the dolly).

For lifting many here use the Sears light alloy jack for about $170:

I use the less expensive one from Sears that's more like the MC550. It's not as well made as the K&L and priced to match ($70 vs. $300):

There are similar items at HF for the same price as the cheaper Sears version:
http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=2792

The MC550, Sears 950190, and HF 2792 have minimum lifts of 4½". The Sears 950191 lowers to 3½".

The cheaper Sears (red) one is adequate unless you do a lot of serious modding on your bike and want something with tons of features.

Looking for one for moderate modding - Rick's Tank switchout at the extreme - and for winter storage.

Thanks guys for all the info and ideas!
