After considering many options for exhaust (mainly price sensitive!) I decided to remove the inner baffles on my stock exhaust. I'm very pleased with the result. I have a 2006 Night Rod. The whole process took me about 2 hours.
I am running a K&N and Power Commander 3 with 809-20 map from the website.
Very happy to have saved $800, and just as happy with the outcome as I would have been with a full system!

Great job!

I did the same for a while except for PCV. I liked it but kept getting a bunch of popping and there was just a tinge too much crotch rocket sound for me.

Did you leave the chicken wire and insulation in the pipes or pull that too?
