So I'm in the process of installing new grips and bar end mirrors. I noticed that when installing the new grips that the grip doesn't slide all of the way onto the bar. I didn't get a measurement, but it looks like there is 1/2 to 3/4 inch bap between the end of the bar and the end of the inside of the grip. Has any installed bar end mirrors and had an issue with the gap or am I overthinking it?
Hiya... not sure if you’ve sorted the issue with your bar end mirrors. I ran bar ends with my standard bars for a year no problem. Changed from the standard grips to a Motogadget grip without issues. I’ve since junked the standard bars and fitted adjustable clip ons with a Motogadget mirror and bar end indicators to try and clean up the cockpit.
Thanks for the ideas. I had Woodcraft clip-one before switch back to the stock bars. What did you do to the brake/clutch lines and throttle cables? Did you leave them stock or get them shortened. That was a problem I ran into. BTW I dig the wire wheels!
The cables were a bit of a pain I have to admit, especially as I added to their considerable girth, by adding bar end indicators also. The hydraulics are run in front of the fork legs now and look OK, the electrics are run through the center of the bars, but because I’m running touring clip ons that sit more or less at the same level as the yokes, are visible. I’ve wrapped them to tidy them up a bit and actually now look ok. I’m happy with how the bike feels and handles, plus the asthetic of the bike is exactly what I wanted. Ive attached some pics of the cables prior to wrapping and as they are now, plus a frontal shot before and after showing the cable runs.
