just an fyi to potential v-rod purchasers...
I had sticky, and difficult downshifting and a really tricky neutral when I got my bike. However, it only had 7 miles on it and the dealer said give it 250 miles. After a couple of days of riding, its broken in nicely. So don't be alarmed if you try a new bike and get this behavior.

Run synthetics when you get past the 1000 mark. it will make it work better. Sometimes the tranny is tempermental though. I have 15K on mine and neutral can be hard to find. Not always, so I am wondering why this is. I have not looked at the manual about how this tranny works as yet, as it is not enough of a pain in the arse.

Thanks Rich. What do you use? What does HD have? My 1000mi inspection and oil change is free so I'm going to take advantage of that. I'll pay extra for synthetic if I can.

The heel shifter that I mentioned in the General thread makes finding neutral very easy for me. I sometimes struggled using toe shifting. Just a slight tap with the heel does it now.

Occasionally, I have a hard time going into first, from neutral. I have to let the clutch out some and really "kick" the shifter to go into first. 1300 miles and I'm running HD Syn3. This only happens sometimes, any suggestions??

I've had this happen on previous bikes. Letting the clutch out, at least a little and pulling it back in always did the trick.
