Check cable connectors and groundings
So, what's your charging voltage when running. Should be 13.8-14.2I have a 2011 NRS and it keeps throwing randomly check engine light and battery light for system low voltage. Usually its on for a few minutes then goes off again. I just replaced the voltage regulator and the battery is less than a year old. Does it sound like the stator is going out
I'd unplug the stator and check it for output and how stable it is. Should be putting out 32-46 AC at 2000 rpm at any of the two terminals when the meter is hooked up. If not , likely winding issue in the stator. It bounces between 12 and 14 while running
Did you test voltage output on the stator while unplugged. This will rule it out and point to the regulator instead. I would test it when hot, since something degrades with heat. Resitence to ground should also be checked on each terminal. Should be none. Resistance between each wire should be between 0.1-0.3 ohms.Definitely think its the stator. Was watching volts on my power vision. Got about 10 minutes into the ride and my volts started falling until i was running on just battery. Got it home and check voltage at the battery and it was 12.1 with the bike running or not
The PV unit is notorious for showing the wrong voltage. Mine is off by .4-.5 volts compared to a VOM hooked right at the battery. Just one the the quirks with then and not all of them do it. Some form of ECM draw bs I was spewed from Fuel Moto. Use the VOM for more accurate readings.I greased the connections at the regulator and tightened down the battery cables. Its running at 13.7 once warm
Generally the charging volts hold solid, all the time. A fluctuation of .6 indicates an issue of some form.Ok i checked the stator. I got the bike hot enough the fans kicked on. At idle is was between 21 and 23vac. As i throttled up it climbed. I ohmed it and they were all within spec. So i put the regulator back on and made sure the wires were in tight and fired it back up. I then decided to take it for a ride to see if i could get the voltage to drop and after almost an hour of riding the volts still look good on the pv. The battery was reading between 13.7 and even hitting 14 volts which ive never seen before and the pv volts was bouncing between 13.5 and 14.1. I know you said. Not to trust the pv volts but its the only thing i can go off of while im riding. So is it possible one of the connectors on the regulator wasnt seated right or what.
