My spring mod was to get rid of the dogass, but once I got into it I decided to get rid of the rear fender as well. Here's a pick where I'm at. Still need to do the final wiring, but that should be fairly quick.

I used the bikes original base plate and then made a bracket to mount the brake light/license plate to that. I bought some mini stock blinkers(the same I used on the front) and located them in the old holes for the inner fender. I also put on progressive 412 shocks and removed the belt guard.

I wanted to do the side mount, but NH law requires horizontal mounting of plate. Just not a fan of having the plate stick out 6+ inches. I might try getting a mount made up that comes off the top shock bolt on the right(pipe) side and tuck it close to the wheel and just above the rear caliper. I think I can cheat it in about an inch so by doing this.

I could cut the plate for you if you want. One thing to check though is that I heard some states require the sidemount to be on the left side. PM me if you want the plate.

Most, if not all, states require horizontal plates. I've been a magistrate for 15 years and have never seen a ticket written for it...so my plate is side-mount vertical.

i got pulled over cuz the light on my vertical mount burned out and i didn't know it. cop said " your plate light is out, this is a fixit warning, by the way that's a sweet bike! have a good one." something along those lines. never mentioned the plate mount which is technically illegal in all 50 if im not mistaken.

I know this thread is 9 months old but just for the record vertical plates ARE legal in Florida. For a brief period they were not but the law was recinded last spring/summer. Mine (Softail) is vertical and within the next few weeks mommas V will be also.

Yea but there are at least 2 stipulations on the vertical mounted tags.
"They" want you to have a transponder on the vertical mounted tags for toll booths because of the camera's lack of ability to properly read the tag.
It has to read top to bottom.
All tags have to be mounted solid,no swivel mounts,no obstructions. This violation will cost over $1000.3rd time is a felony!

No,those are what I've been told are some rules of the law that is in affect now.Seems that there were 2 tag laws in affect so they reverted back to the original law and added some new rules to it.
This is hear-say and you should look this up and read the rules of the law yourself.I have not done this. The people I listened to about this law are usually well educated about this type stuff.
