Does anybody know if the Smart Siren module is the same for all the HD models? I am asking because my local HD dealer is selling a siren module listed for a 2001-2003 Dyna/FXR (part # 68318-01A) at clearance price and if it will fit my 2009 DX, it will save me some money. Looking at the module, it does look like it would fit my DX, but I would like to be certain.

I've asked the mechanics and they say that the siren modules are all the same on the different HD models except for the mounting brackets. However, they didn't seem too confident in their answer, so I thought I would ask this forum.

My 2006 Screamin Eagle (VRSCSE2) came with an alarm system as standard equipment. The part number listed for the siren is: 68958-00. However, its the only one listed in the parts manual and its listed under "International Only".

That may not be conclusive for you, but I hope that it helps.

According to the H-D Accessories manual (part # 68318-01A) is only available for the 2001-2003 Dyna.

(part # 68317-01A) is available for 2001 FL touring and 1997-1999 FL Touring
(part # 68317-01A) is available for 2001 touring
(part # 68318-01A) is available for 2001-2003 Dyna
(part # 68319-01) is available for 2001-20-02 Softtail
(part # 68352A-04B) is available for 2007-2010 XL/XR and 2004-2006 XL

(part # 68328-02) is available for all other models including V-Rods

If you are talking the Smart Siren II kit change the -xx suffix to -06A. ie 68328-06A for V-rod Smart siren II

I guess what I am asking is this: Is the siren module physically different for each model of bike, or does HD use the same siren module on all the bikes and just give them different part number for each bike model?

My guess is that there is physical as well as electrical differences. Harley does use parts interchangeable on different models of bike without changing the part number. Witness the rear brake light switch. It has a suffix of -51C which means it has been in use since 1951. It is the same switch used on all Harley's since then. Same part number.

MTWINN: if you already have the factory alarm on the bike without siren, you can pick up a piezo siren from RadioShack for 2 bucks and install in about 15 minutes
