About a month ago I noticed a shallow horizontal slit on the right side of my rear tire about 2 inches long.

Last night I noticed an almost identical slit on the left side of the tire. It is kind of weird...that it is almost a mirror image...that I did not notice previously.

The center of the tire is fine. It is a 240 Dunlop with about 4,000 miles on it.

Has anyone seen this before?

I will post pics when it stops raining.

That is molding flash, where the tire mold comes together and the rubber just starts to leak out of the mold when under pressure to form the tread. No biggie, my Avons have it and they have not even been mounted. My Avons have the molding flash lines perpendicular to the Dunlop you posted a pic of, that is, they run from sidewall to sidewall.

Edit: Sorry, looking at the wrong thing.

My Dunlops did that at about 5000 mi. Lasted till about 12,000 with no ill affects, actually acquired a couple more in the meantime.
