SE Pipes

I picked up my new 07 AW yesterday and went for a short ride today. While out a guy on a road king was telling me about his 02 vrod and that he had a set of SE he would sell me for 100$. He had taken them off to put on some jokers he said. Said they were in great condition with no marks. Now i want a little louder pipes with a more rumble. Would these pipes or slip ons accomplish that? Also on HD website they say they fit only R and D models, would they work on my AW?

There are several "mods" posted here on the forum... the one that completely removes the baffles is the one that Chopper Steve does, and the one that I have.

well that's the one I was looking into doing... thanks.
Ok, I've seen replies all over the map with a lot of confusion on what an SE pipe is. Here is a rundown

SE Slip Fits = Looks like the stock pipe on an A model with a different baffle system. Fits A/B/SE/X models ONLY. This requires a remap
SE Hollow Points = For R/D/DX models ONLY. they look like the pipes on these models with a brushed finish. No remap required
SE 16 GA = Looks like dual straight pipes. For A/B/SE/X models ONLY. Requires remap.

All of these have a "V-Mod" capability where part of the interal baffle is removed. It's different for each pipe but historically the appropriate SE flash works OK with this mod. If you have an R/D/DX then you'll need a Race Tuner or other device if you modify it since there isn't any SE flash for this pipe.

You didn't comment on the Stock A/B/SE/X pipes that have been v-modded and whether or not they require/can use the SE flash...
ok ..... So of I mod my slip fit SE pipes, I won't need anything else because I already have a reflash that was done at the dealer when the pipes were put on... Right ? Just want to get straight (and thanks again for clearing this all up).
Yes, but be aware that the v-modded SE slip fits are no where near as loud as the v-modded stock pipes... (I have both)

really? I wonder why that is.. I thought the SE pipes just had a little internal baffles than stock ... And in the end, aren't you just removing them?

Enlighten me, please.

Mark the slip fits DO fit the AW... (personal experience)

Nope... the stage1 download covers the v-mod.
:them: I have mine vmodded by Steve and with stage 1 download. It runs great.

For identification purposes also note that the SE performance slip fit mufflers have a "Screamin' Eagle" script on the top muffler. If you are looking for a set, beware of ebay auctions calling the stock CVO exhaust, a SE slip fit muffler.
thread made me dizzy-

Hope you guys followed all that. :notworth:
I run SE slipfits that look like stock. I had the dealer download after I put them on. You can then go one step further and vmod them. The vmod option for the SE slip fits is simply drilling a plug out in the middle of the pipe with a hole saw. Do a searh on "how to v-mod se pipes" and you will see a How To thread with pics and all. Takes like 10 min. After drilling out the plug, you now have SE v-mods. I am still running of the orignal dealer download, with no additional fuel mgmt and the bike runs fine.

When you take the entire baffel out, that is the vmod of the original STOCK pipes (w/o SE on them) and they are MUCH louder then SE vmods and you WILL needs a fuel mgmt system. I don't believe the dealer download will cover the stock vmods.

Hope this helps.

Hi, did you buy them? do they (an '02 ) fit your AW07?
Thanks.

I stuck a set on an AW07 and they fit like the stock ones fit... no issues.
Stock A pipes V-moded (baffels removed) work just fine with a 33321-05 SE Cartridge down load. You will need to have a SE/Amsoil/K/N Air filter, go topless (remove completely the black air box-top with the snorkel) and relocate the temp sensor.

Bike runs great, though I do need to let it warm up for 5 minutes before riding or it will stumble around 3000-4000. After that, all is excellant! Not sure if it is because of the new found noise, but the bike seems to be much more powerful.

From my understanding there is no such thing as a Stage 1 down load for the V-Rod, unless that is a generic carry over term from the air heads.

Not sure any of this applies to the new 07 AW, but hey thought I would input just to add to the confusion.......

The "stage one download" was/is and ECM update for the Screamin Eagle Pipes and aircleaner. Dealers provided this $$$ add-on when they sold/installed the Screamin Eagle pipes (for the V-Rod) as an option.
