In this image you see a result of analysis of many motorcycle crashes. The numbers correspond to the percentage of damage done to a particular area. Look at the chin area of the helmet.

I'm sorry, we all want to be safe but helmet fights and links to sites that have statistics based on a bias study don't mean a lot to me. I'm neither pro or con on this issue I just think these topics always turn into arguments that serve no purpose. IMHO riding safe to start with means as much as all the gear in the world. All the gear in the world won't do you any good if you don't ride safe. I wear a helmet 99% of the time but that doesn't make me right or wrong.
